Ray's Place in Mulege

Can anyone confirm that Ray's Place is alive and well and what days he is open? Planning a trip down there and want to be sure to make it on a day that he is open. Thanks

Funny thing is that I actually signed on today to ask the same question.

Last October, he was open Thursday through Sunday. I have no clue what's going on right now.

However, I have a couple of traveling companions that really want to experience Ray's. But since we're making a two week Baja trip to Cabo and back, if Ray's is not open, we'd likely skip Mulege, in that, we actually have to alter our itinerary a bit to make a night stop over in Mulege.

strictly grapevine stuff here but i heard the roof of ray's was totally ripped off in our freak chubasco in mulege about a month and a half ago...understood the walls were barely standing and leaning outwards...not good..was described to me as a total loss...is sure hope not..more as i hear it.

Hopefully, we can get some followup to that.

The Roof is gone...'Again?'

Wow...But...WHEN did it go away the first time? Was I asleep? Hmmm...come to think of it, my Mouseketeer's cap's been missing for some time...??

Roof is now history? As in....Gone?

Egads......I'm assuming the bar did not suffer any damage?? Ray, please tell us it's intact, as I'm having a little anxiety-attack right now...

Sure...give up your stool for a coupla months and THIS happens.

Well, things will get back to normal soon...and I can't wait to see that welcome back glass of red.

So, this is the perfect place to give Ray’s re-opening a plug. Best of luck, Ray. We’ll all be there ‘giving you the business’

I've got faith in your re-building, Ray... and can lend a hand with a hammer, paint brush ...and may even pay my bar bill.

Plus I would like to put my order in now, por favor. Quiero esto, mi amigo., amigo...all of it...todo el él.

"Ray's La Habana"...The all-time favorite eatery and watering hole in Baja.

A superb place to dine and ....

... party-hearty!

Ray has ample parking for whatever you drive up in...?.

She loves it. And it's almost new..with only 125 on the odemeter...all pasture miles.

How' bout some directions to Ray's Place? (or is it a "secret spot"?)

I heard it was several miles west of town - forgot the name of the road.

Thx, Rob

On Jan. 30, Arvada George posted about Ray's... and someone there asked the same thing... Although I haven't been there, I did find the GPS form it and made some images of the road in on Google Earth:

I did find the GPS for it in Mike & Terri Church's 2006 'Camping Mexico's Baja', as Ray has a campground there too, it seems... Wish he was open in the summer as we would like to check it out!

Based on the GPS, and the many turns mentioned... I think I found the road, from space... let me know if it looks right!

The next 7 views are all looking west:

So, is this it?... Ray's driveway:

Funny thing is that while the little signs fundamentally guide you to Ray's, after an evening of great food and muchas bebidas, you won't have the pleasure of signage, heading back, especially in the dark. Best to caravan going home.

We go to Baja Sur in the summer... and Ray's is closed then... We do enjoy EL PATRON on the beach at the end of the north river road, a lot!
