Beach camping in Bahia de LA

Hey all,
We're headed to B of LA in a few days and plan to do some beach camping. From the sounds of it there seems to be endless possibilities but if anyone has specific recommendations we would love it! We're in a '78 VW bus so no off-roading possibilities : )

Saludos,
Kris & Anna

Nothing specific, there are plenty of places. You should not have a problem.
I just posted some photos for your review.

we loved camping at the very end out by the entrance to the estuary or lagoon at the little mouth of it....nobody there if ya camp far enough away from the big houses out that way...i had a neat encounter with a baby sperm whale close to shore in my kayak there....very cool...drive out past town, past campo gekko and turn left and head out to the end there.

If you do get stuck in the sand... don't panic, just deflate your tires (all 4) down to about 10 psi. Remove any sand built up from the front of the tires so there is no 'blockage' of forward movement. Bring a good air gauge and an electric tire pump to refill when you are out of the sand.

Amigos, remember any new place you visit you gotta pay some dues. Your first day you'll prolly arrive late and so camp where you can. Second day you can explore and set up a camp! Lots of great spots you'll hear about but not the Best! :wow: You gotta search out what fits you. The Bay has many locations that take a few visits to dial in. That's why we save the best for ourselves and those who have been coming for a long time! Gotta Guide Book?! Gettin there is half the fun!:D Tio

Funny thing, but the trips where you get stuck, break down or have some special incident are the ones you remeber as the best! At least the most memorable...

Hey all thanks for the advice. We ended up having a great time camping in Catavina then we headed straight to the Sisters. I think it's going to be hard to leave here...

There's a great place called Los Pinos about a mile past Daggetts. Both times I've been there, nobody has come around for payment, and nobody else there. Palapa, BBQ, right on the water. Look for the sign.

In the case of Baja Nomad, because goat or Igor have seen my advice on sand driving many times they think everyone has seen it, and thus is useless repetion to make fun of. In the real world, there are people who have not seen that info... and these are typically NEW Nomads... DYNAMIC forum, always growing. :light:

Just because you have seen or know something here, doesn't mean the information is not new to someone else here... ie. just beacaue I post a lot, doesn't mean you can't... Nomad is not STATIC... it's not like a pie with only limited pieces that can come out of it.

being a pisces, I swim upstream AND downstream...and I was a cheerleader..."Lean to the left...Lean to the right...come on nomads ...fight fight fight."

but I gotta say...people really need reminding over and over and over again about deflating their tires...I can't BELIEVE the number of folks who travel back roads with their tires waaaaaay too inflated and their excuse is always not wanting to rip a side wall.

We always have our tires around 15-20 lbs and have never had a flat or ripped side wall....and ever so rarely get stuck in the sand....people just dont believe it or are just too lazy to let the air out of their tires and air back up later. We also pull alot of people out of the sand and most forget that when they first feel like they are getting stuck they should STOP and let the air out....ooooops....did I just mention THAT AGAIN???? oh crap...am I leaning left or right?

Barry,

If the information is that valuable it can be added as a sticky at the top of a forum. Or come up with a poller that automates the posting of the same info.

When a nomad posts the same info repeatedly it's a sign of an unimaginitive mind.

SkipJack--------I have no idea what you are talking about as I am not familiar with any of those "methods" of posting that you refer too.

An answer is posted 'repeatedly' (or only again) AFTER the QUESTION has been asked AGAIN... and it is not the newbie's fault that he wasn't on Nomad 4 years and 3 month ago (or whenever) it was first posted.

Maybe, if you want... teach all newbies how to SEARCH for old answers, if re-posting them irritates you? I for one believe I know the purpose of Baja Nomad... and I am following that quest.
