We enjoyed it... I had the photos posted back then on Nomad, but when Doug updated the site, all the photos were lost...

But, thanks to technology (and some time before kickoff)...

Gardner's Baja Books (in my collection)

Plus this mostly non-Baja book:

Not in my collection are 'A Host with a Big Hat' and 'Hunting Lost Mines by Helicopter'. Gardner also wrote a book about people who lived on house boats in the Sacramento River Delta before he died in 1970.

What? What is a 'fathead'?

As for who he is... he created 'Perry Mason' and wrote many mystery books besides his true life Baja and desert adventure books. The revenues from the Perry Mason TV series financed his great Baja expeditions of the 1960's. Erle paid for everyone's expenses, Choral Pepper told me... He's referring to the "life-size" pic of ESG on the door that you're standing next to above.

The reference is to Fathead graphics to put on walls/doors/etc:
