Question for baja computer geeks

Why is it , on this web site,

when I open a thread that contains photos, sometimes all the photos load no problemo and other times half a photo will load or will only show a place for the photo with a big red "X"??????????????

Are my 4 gigs of ram shot or insufficient? Cache is cleared everyday.

Is it perhaps the origin of different servers? ie. almost always Pompano's photos load but others are partial .

I can't figure this out.:?:

I think the browser times out. There's a given amount of time during which a browser will refresh a page and when it reaches it it will display the images that have been completely uploaded and display icons for those that haven't.

Just refresh the page. The pictures (files) that have already been uploaded will not upload again. It knows they are on your laptop. And the incomplete files will be uploaded during the refresh. So you get a complete page - previously uploaded + currently uploaded.

The faster your connection the less likely this will occur.

and yes, 4GB of ram is probably hindering the video rendering ability of your video card.

actually the 4 gigs mean very little if your computer is old and slow
but 4 gigs of memory is fine right now

i use a SAT link and it does happen to me sometimes too

its probably a combo-nation of your internet server, the size of the posted files and the server people are "hotlinking" to on another site

just right-click and "show picture"

Dump IE and try Chrome

You may have a setting in IE that is timing out, especially if you are on a slow internet speed.

I think Chrome is probably the best browser right now, however, it is simply a quick and easy way to try a browser from scratch to see if it fixes the issue.

Yes...dump IE for sure. It's the worst.

I use

Fast.

Sounds like just a slow internet connection. Maybe stop clearing out your cache every day, caching can help to speed things up.

Just agreeing with many opinions stated above....

- 4GB RAM should be sufficient.
- Images not loading could very well be timeouts due to slow(er) internet speed - such as a dialup connection.
- Chrome seems to be the least bloated, quickest browser of those being (somewhat) widely used right now.

Thanks everyone for the tips,

Funny , newer box with windows7 and fast chip actually has more issues than my older box with xp.

Maybe it knows I don;'t like 7 ??????:fire:

I'm going to try a couple of different browsers to see what the difference is soon.

Why can't MSFT just fix the first version they ever made and make it work right instead of trying to fool you that they've reinvented the wheel and renaming the SOS every year??

Why should they if consumers continue to show them they'll buy the latest version "update"?

;D

Connection?

If your Windows 7 is on a computer that can handle it (not a retrofit) then it's sounding like your connection. Do you have this problem on other sites? Able to see streaming video?

Some Internet providers squeeze bandwidth to less than they advertise. If you have a cable provider, the more people that are using in your area, the worse the connection.

I'm on cable, but haven't had trouble since I wend to 4Mbps.
