Good post Roger. Somehow I missed it.

Very informative on a subject I knew little.

Thanks,
Igor

Here's a real fan of Buddy Holly and Richie Valens. Two awesome talents, though Buddy was really one in a million. His songs were played and copied by the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Cream and most every rock musician since then has been influenced by his music. Amazing for a 22 year old.

One small nitpick, but since we are talking about history here, it may actually matter. I believe that Buddy had just broken up with his band, the Crickets, shortly before the concert.

Gary Busey played a pretty good Buddy Holly.

Funny thing is I did not know you were a black woman, nor do many others on this board. Lighten up! Practice your avatar MOOD.;D;D;D

I stand corrected. But you see, Pompano's post is not off topic. It's a trip report down memory lane.

Die-hard Buddy Holly fan here. I saw the Crickets play at the Palomino Club in Hollywood in 1986. I was under-age. Gary Busey showed up and sang a few songs. I have all their autographs. It was an awesome night but I felt that heavy void. Buddy Holly's music goes everywhere with me. Sorry Elvis, Buddy is King for me.

Rave on!

Not that I mind these topics here...

Sexual discrimination? Really? How are you surviving in Mexico? Why would anyone care you're a woman? Some of my best friends are women.:lol:

In all seriousness, even you had been labelled your post as "off topic" as I recall. Do you really think it belonged where you put it? Should this be in off-topic as well? Probably. My suggestion? Get over it!. (I'm going to guess you're not interested in my suggestion, but that's fine with me, and I won't accuse you of sexual discrimination either.

Anything I post remotely controversial ends up on Fulano's site as Loopy MD...especially when it has to do with Roberto or Dennis...but its finally good to hear from the peanut gallery...Roberto...

Huh? I was just funnin' you lady. Lighten up. I've been called a lot worse than loopy, and I'm still here. If you've been reading, you also know that I believe your heart is in the right place. I still do.

Funnin' me...

Roberto, I don't think you were funnin' me when you told me that I knew the drill, that I have posted off-topic before...so why did I post about Whitney Houston on topic...that being said...I appreciate your very nice comments...yes I guess Loopy is being kind in Fulano's world...thank you, Fulano!!! BTW, wasn't Zorro in Los Angeles during the time where Spain occupied the region....that's what I have been reading, also noticed that Zorro supposedly was based on an Irishman and that the history of Ireland and Mexico run similarly...my niece is in Ireland right now and is obsessed with everything Irish...so that's why I found the similarities interesting. Another interesting thought, when Spain occupied Los Angeles, when did a Spaniard in California now U.S. actually become a Mexican...after the liberation of California from Spain? (As you can tell, Mexican history is not my forte..!)
