Going to Gonzaga bay. Do I need an FMT-Visa?

Do I need any permit for my vehicle?

No auto. permit for all of Baja peninsula or the Sonora 'free zone'.

FMM (formerly FM-T) is 'technically' required for travel south of the border zone (some say San Felipe is in the border zone).

However, there is no checking for FMM anywhere in Baja California (the state north of the 28º parallel).

Some do, some don't, get an fmm, people go
to B of LA without 1. Me, I would get 1 at the
border, there are free 6 nite 7 day fmm's
available if that fits your time frame or the 180 day $20 fmm, what ever you
do, don't call it a visa, a little satire

I'll be crossing in Mexicali by car. Is the immigration office immediately after you cross the border? Right or left side? Also, is it quick to get the free FMM? I don't really want to be waiting hours in a govt office? ;)

Ken Cooke posted photos of it HERE:http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=55870#pid663383

Just below Ken's photos, John M posted a Google Earth map showing where you go, when driving (Ken walked across).

It is on the left just past the border crossing. Make sure you cross when the bank teller is also open (unless you are getting the free 7 day card).

I assume you are crossing from Calexico into Mexicali
at the old downtown crossing, as posted, the Immigration
office is directly to the left 100' AFTER you go thru the
Mex Customs, red light/reen light, past the Mex Customs
Officer. If it were me, I would pull over and park on the
right, just BEFORE you get to you get to Mex customs guard,
then by foot cross over to the Mex IMM office a 200' walk,
I have never waited any time for tourist card there,
if they tell you don't need an fmm for Gonzaga, be polite
tell them you would appreciate a free 7 day fmm, bear in mind Mex IMM can be fickle

I am planning to cross @ Mexicali on Sunday March 18. Are the banks open on Sunday?
Where/how far is the bank from the immigration office?
