La Bocana/Punta Abreojos locals take off on a horse trip

Yesterday, as we were headed to Mulege, we happened uoon a group of local residents from our little village who were taking a 3 day trip to San Ignacio:

my high school student Luis:

our good friend and local doctor Romero:

and me petting the first horse of my life (I know ...I am a city girl !!!)

and some of the others in the group:

and when the Canadian group was here last week, they asked and got to ride some of these horses ... I guess Sunday is get together day for these horse owners ... carne asada and beers and horseback riding. The Canadians had a grand time.

last week there was a cool cabalgata just for women too in Guerrero Negro...and one from the ejido Benito Juarez out to Ojo de Liebre lagoon. These are wonderful rides open to everyone and they have a nice lunch when they get to their destinations. Here are some vaqueros watering their caballos after they cooled down.

If one likes riding, just ask around and someone will take you....the vaqueros are proud of their animals and enjoy showing them to you.
