Hotel in Los Mochis?
Can anyone recommend a hotel in Los Mochis in the $40-$75 range or ? I need to go on a quick business trip from Loreto and stay 2 nights. By any very
slim chance, is anyone familiar with the sugar plant over there?

When you drive through, there are many "no tell motels" on the side of the highway. They are cheap, very clean and we always stay in them when we
travel that route. I know it seems funny, but they are generally new and charge only around $25-35 a night. You can identify them by the walls around
them, normally.

Have friends who live in PV and when they drive back and forth, they always stay in these hotels. They have secure parking and are very clean. Only
problem they had is one time they slept in till about 9:00 and someone knocked on the door to see if they were alright......

We stayed in one of those "No tell" motels. Clean and cheap. The one we stayed in had the only entrance through the garage. They let you in with a
remote. King bed and a dancing pole in the room. . And a revolving passthrough, in case you order booze and whatever from the
management. Only porn on the TV. Fun!!
We also stayed in a motel in downtown Los Mochis. Decent place but we found it in the middle of the night with police help and for the life of me
can't remember the street. So, not much help. Recommend the ones on the highway, but you need a car. They're quite a ways out of town.

Well, I can tell you where not to stay. We stayed at the Monte Carlo (in "el centro") on our way back from Copper Canyon - very mediocre and wouldn't
stay there again. There was a Best Western nearby, but it may be over the top of your price range. Do an internet search. The Santa Anita was
recommended to us also, but was pricey, so we opted for the more economical Monte Carlo but regretted it.

Howard, we use to stay at the Best Western by the old church in the center of Los Mochis but runs about $130 dollars a night now really keeps going
up. However, our last 4 visits we started staying at the City Express on Blvd. Centenario phone number of 52-66-88169800. The rates are about $60
dollars and includes morning breakfast starts at 7am to 10am. There is a Chilis restruant just beside it and a Casino just on the other side. Across
the street are coffee cafes, 7-11 type store all mordern. The rooms are nice, clean, and staff very much trying to please. Your vehicle is watched
by security guards at night so no worry I have found my Jeep and Truck there every time I stayed there,LOL. Best deal with safe, secure, and close to
places to eat or nightcap if you so desire. Cabs are just out front on the street.
Note the more expensive Best Western is very nice as it over looks the park in front of the church and on Friday & Saturdays music, venders and it
has a jacuzzi and pool with very secure parking and restruant and bar inside it also. Numerous other restruants up the street all in walking distance
and again it cost more but if you want nice view of the park with all the goings on good place to stay just be prepared to pay for it. Again, City
Express if very nice and my choice now as even with a cab we can go down enjoy the music and get cab back with about $40 dollars to the good when we

Thanks everyone for the information! Once I firm up my travel plans, I'll ask for places to eat and what to see at night.

Downtown by the Best Western where the park and old church are there is a couple of good places to eat just about three blocks walking up from the
Best Western Hotel. Check out El Farollow best fish food in town and great surrounds inside with cold very cold beer. You can also check out Espana
up that same direction also more into mexican food menu.
You also need to check out port town of Topolobampo about 20 miles from Los Mochis where the ferries come in. There are also many little fish places
to eat in Topolobampo just do it for lunch no later. Do this site seeing only in morning & early afternoon hours not at NIGHT, as at NIGHT I can

We have used these "Motor Motels" for years...
They are almost always on the fringe areas of the towns- never in the Centro. One we use each year as we take the ferry from La Paz to Topo, on our
way to Zihuatanejo, is just 15 minutes from the ferry towards Los Mochas. It's called the "Popeye Motel". Like all these Motor Motels, you get to
park in your own garage right at your door. They don't issue keys so once your are in you are in to stay. They all rent by the hour but will rent
for a whole night and usually in the $300 peso range. The Popeye has four rooms with a large swimming pool at the foot of your bed- $350MP- with a
swim-up bar. By phone you can order drinks that are pushed in your room in a revolving 'lazy-susan' drink window. Big screen TVs will sometimes have
PG stations besides the "X" rated ones. The Popeye always has bed sheets but not all of them do and you have to ask. You will never find cleaner
motels anywhere...even the mirrors on the ceiling are clean. We jokingly call these motels "Hooker Motels", but they NEVER offer or have available
this service so you have to bring your own...BYOH. Here's a pix of the pool at the foot of our bed at the Popeye. I will spare you the pix of me
using the brass pole by the big screen TV-
Things are expensive, but at least we get a free trip around the sun once a year

Hmmm, very interesting but the issue of "No Key" just does something to make me say, "I don't think so." LOL Besides that, my wife would definately
have a problem staying there unless we brought our own sheets with us even then it would not happen since we know what these hotel are really know
for,LOL. Guess we will just stick to the City Express and Best Western options,LOL.
Now, I have some buddies that would definately like to check this out but since one is divorced for a second time just how much trouble could he
really get into by staying here. The other one has never been married but almost thought about it once, well maybe twice if you count the drunk times
LOL.
Definately looks nice but again the "No Key" thing just doesn't go well. So, where were places like this in Mexicali when we use to go to the "Cage"
and "The Lobby" that was next to it for those after hour funtimes when we were in high school, Hmmm I mean college,LOL. Take Care & Travel

there is a nice hotel in Topo that I stayed in at about $50.00 and you can walk to the restaurants there. The price is very reasonablecheap for a
very nice seafood dinner with incredible view. Have been there a few times at night and no problems at all. Three years ago was the last time
I wandered around at night but only hit the OXXO in town.
One thing to remember is when getting close to the port either leaving or arriving, this is a huge speed trap. when I say crawl I mean it, the
legal speed limit on that road is so low it is annoying.. They never got a penny from me but it takes me about 30 minutes of just saying no
comprende and smiling.
To find away around all the traffic one time I followed the semi's, which did exactly that and it was the boonies and sure enough I got pulled over
and this was one of worse ones. Two large rough looking males with intimidation attitudes. And no businesses or homes in the area very little
traffic and getting off the ferry is 10PM. so very dark. They finally gave up after 45 minutes longest it has ever taken me. Could not get
either of these guys to crack a smile. Has worked for me for years.

They even stopped our cab driver. He paid them off since we were in a hurry. We reimbursed him when we arrived at the train station.
