Let fall this aircraft guided by remote control for study for safety purposes. ...........THE place... km. 86 federal highway Mexicali to San
Felipe... reaching km. 86 got off the road.../.. and continue driving 5 km. more westward through the desert of the salt / site where was made real
"mock" fall of a plane with capacity for 200 people / well, was not drill, a single simulation is a simulation, here the plane broke into several
pieces, everything was real.../..pilots who were piloting the aircraft from the airport up to the landing site is threw parachute 4 pilots, and after
throwing it the aircraft was directed to the place by control remoto.../... Crashed the plane intentionally to get information of the incident and
thus see how to improve security measures... are all clear payment for NAT GEO AND DISCOVERY for the first time in coordination.../... This was the
day 27 of April 2012...
I dunno - aircraft construction and safety and engineering has been around a long time. Pretty expensive test run - seems extreme and unnecessary.
Wonder if it's a Mexican or USA project for study.

I doubt that anyone would crash a in service plane on purpose it probably was headed for demilation anyway. I agree about the tail section in most
crashes it's usualy the largest intact section left.

I understand it was done by or in conjunction with
National Geographic for a show to come. It also
obviously states that the location was easy and cheap
as compared with a US location. On the LA News
last nite, it was said to have been piloted to a point
then the pilot parachuted out

I've now seen several other videos from different angles of the crash and one of them supposedly shows the pilotos parachuting down to a
predetermined spot.
Boeing 727 crashed deliberately for documentary exploring the effects of serious impacts on planes and people
Jet, which can carry 170 passengers, ripped in two as it smashes into ground moments after pilot ejects Loaded with crash-test dummies and cameras in first deliberate aircraft crash since NASA's 30 years ago
...and this from MSNBC Travel:
Television producers at the Discovery Channel, Channel 4 in the UK and Pro Sieben in Germany recently crashed a Boeing 727 in the
name of science.
The plane's pilot ejected from the aircraft minutes before the jet, guided remotely, went down in an isolated part of Mexico's Sonoran Desert,
according to a press release from the Discovery Channel.
"Rather than carrying passengers, the plane was packed with scientific experiments, including crash test dummies," the statement said. "Dozens of
cameras recorded the crash from inside the aircraft, on the ground, in chase planes and even on the ejecting pilot's helmet."
It looks like the landing pitch was decidedly nose down, which may account for the forward section tearing off as it did. Maybe the Nomad pilots can
answer this: Could a properly piloted 727 land unharmed on that desert?

"unharmed" ??? No!! My experience with the Laguna Salada over the years is that it is quite soft, even when completely dry. You might get away
with a belly landing, landing gear retracted, but the plane is going to sustain a LOT of damage, and may burst into flames, or just disintegrate upon
impact-------risky stuff, no matter what.
It is impressive to see how fast the plane stops. It did not appear to travel very far after impact. It also stayed relatively intact. I was
impressed. Cant wait to see what happened to the interior.
