It did get cut back and re-potted this year, maybe that's the reason. It usually only produces 5+- flowers.

Your cactus is beautiful, Ken.
But do notice those teensy tiny webs on your plant and remove them asap.... aphids are on their way.
My orchid cactus is large and always blooms well. But this year it has more blooms and each one is simply enormous - maybe 3 times the size of
normal, which already if large. I can hardly wait for the first of the blooms to open!

all y'alls knows that dish soap and water in a spray bottle kills garden pests without harming the plant, right?

Thanks for the heads up on the aphids. I'm glad I didn't "clone" them out of the photo.

We have 3 plants and 2 have had more than 20 flowers each. The third one that was repotted about 1 month ago only has 6.This picture was taken by
Dedee Scanlen at the annual Punta Banda garden tour earlier this month:

those flowers are all the epitome of gorgeous .... I have one about to open but not quite yet ....the huge one from last year got replanted by a
neighbor who thought she was doing me a favor - it does NOT look like it will give the beautiful flowers like last year.
these flower threads have to be my favorite ... they simply put a grin from ear to ear on my face.
Here are some of mine - no where near as spectacular as the orchid cacti but pleasing nonetheless:
Does anyone recognize this one ???? I would love to know what it is:

@Bajablanca:
You asked what the white funnelform flower is. We think it kinda looks like a petunia.
The cactus that you asked if it was a cholla is not. It's a Mammillaria. If it came from Baja, then it looks like it is most likely Mammillaria
dioica. Did it have white "petals" each with a reddish midstripe and a lime green multi-branched stigma (that long thingy sticking out of the middle
of the flower)?
Finally, the hanging succulent looks like a species of Sedum (Crassulaceae). You can use Yahoo or Google search and look for images of Sedum. There
are tons and tons, but you might find something that looks like your species with the particular flower you have.
