Flying Doctors (Truckee Chapter) visit Asuncion

A big thank you to the great team of Medicos Voladores that flew into Asuncion to do a 2 day clinic of women's health and glasses.
Our first patient was everyone's favorite policewoman...

I had the honour to be Doctora Leigh Wayne's translator and I learned soooo much as they explain everything as they do it. Now I know what a cervix really looks like as we did several pap smears! hahaha... Surfdoc volunteered for the pelvic checkups too! jejejeje

This little guy was having a heart murmer checked...nurse Christy loved holding him as the doctora listened to his heart.

These ladies at their daily sewing cirlce loved their new glasses and made everyone getting sun glasses model them for their approval...lots of laughs...they loved Randall the pilot who did the eyeglass clinic! Here they are with the trip coordinator Wayne and Christy.

One little girl who was only there with her cousin to get a surgery checked, cried and cried as she thought the doctor was going to give her a shot. I had what turned out to be a good idea to gain her confidence...I asked her if she wanted to hear my heart beat...then I let her listen to her own and then all the kids wanted to hear...it was awesome. Karen who was terrified is the little one on the left front beside the doctora...cool she lost her fear of doctors!

The kids felt like rock stars in their new sunglasses and Randall the pilot was just fantastic with everyone.

After a hard days work at the clinic, the team enjoyed some margaritas on the patio at our place at the Blowhole. they sure have some great stories to share!

The cooperativas donated the food and the team enjoyed eating at 3 Hermanos with Gloria at the beach and Tomas of Loncheria Mari made them delicious fresh grilled halibut and an awesome conch c-cktail...here they are saying goodbye at the air strip.

Mil gracias to these dedicated folks who help out the villages.

What an emotional WIN-WIN when folk don't hurt each other, but help each other. ...yes to smiling children! I project that the plane took to the air full of hearts more enriched and joyful than when they landed. Good for everyone.:bounce::bounce::bounce:
