NEW BOOK: The Old Missions of Baja & Alta California.

If you have been following the thread in the Nomad Historic Interests and Literature forum, you know that Max, Erline and I have been working on a new book that will provide the basic details and some background history on the California Missions.

All 48 of California's missions are included, from the first mission at Loreto in 1697, then those throughout the peninsula of California (now known as Baja California), and then the Franciscan missions (mostly in Alta California) and Dominican missions of northern Baja California, to the last California mission founded in 1834, at Guadalupe. Missions Guadalupe and Solano were both founded after Mexico won its independence from Spain, so they are 'Mexican missions', rather than 'Spanish missions'.

Each of the missions are an important part of California's history (Baja & Alta). Since that was the case, we treat each mission with equal importance and they are listed in chronological order, and numbered 1-48. Missions are easy to look up being listed in the book's contents, index and they are on three maps, for better location detail (Baja California Sur, Baja California, and Alta California).

The book is glove box friendly at 8.5" x 5.5", so it is easy to have at your service as you travel to the 46 missions reachable by automobile (if you have one able to get to Santa Maria, otherwise 45)! Only two missions have no automobile access... so the book is also backpack friendly!

Approx. 145 pages with approx. 160 photos and maps:

The price of the book is $19.95 + tax (shipping included)... (U.S. and Canada).

Pay Pal is set up, http://oldmissions.com/

or you can send a check for $21.70/copy to:

M & E BOOKS
P.O. BOX 20121
EL CAJON, CA 92021

If you have questions, please email them to us at oldmissions*at*gmail.com (replace the *at* with @ )

Christmas is coming up!

Thank you very much, and I hope you find the book useful and informative as you travel through any or all of the three states that now are part of Spanish California!
Max, Erline, David

NEW BACK COVER:

EDIT:

Announcing a SPECIAL NEW DEAL... Until further notice, ALL U.S. and CANADA orders will have NO SHIPPING CHARGE ADDED! That is a $6 discount! PayPal has been edited and I asked our web host to edit the price given for those who prefer to mail in a check to our P.O. box.

The price of the Book is $19.95, plus tax= $21.75

I am happy to sign all the books purchased by my Nomad amigos... I will just need to get to El Cajon (1 hour from here) before Max mails them out to do so! Thank you for your early orders! Max, a reviewer doing copy-edit (a Nomad), and I have been working on it again this morning, refining the layout and trying to catch any typos...

add: If you purchased a book and then come to one of the Power Point shows, bring it with you to get Max and I to sign them. Otherwise, get the books at one of the shows and we will sign them at that time. I only wish I had a British accent, as I always thought that gave Graham and edge when he does his shows!

Okay, we now have a website!

http://oldmissions.com/ or http://www.oldmissions.com

Just up the past hour, under construction but will have a PayPal link there and perhaps have updates for this book and future books... Max has already planned to update his popular 'California's El Camino Real and its Historic Bells' that was published by Sunbelt several years ago.

In the updated version, we will include all of the California El Camino Real that begins in Loreto and perhaps include mission roads south as well as north from Loreto!

Anyway, first we need to finish and sell the new missions book so we can do more books!

Thank you for your interest!
