Snorkel trip in Cabo
Hi all, finally headed back to Mexico, this time a cruise that stops in Cabo (2 days) and PV (1 day). The g/f and I want a snorkel trip in Cabo, can
book through the cruiseline but thought I'd check with y'all first. We are experienced/ advanced swimmers/ snorkelers, looking for more water time
than boat ride time. The ship offers two; one that is basically a c-cktail cruise on a big comfy cat with not much swimming time OR a lot of swim
time serviced by a rough riding rubber duck with no ameneties. Is there a compromise ? ( comfortable boat focussing on snorkeling, not drinking and
sight seeing ?) TIA, - D

Do not waste your time or money on:
Cabo Pulmo Dive Center Five Star PADI RESORT
Rent a car and drive to Los Arbolitos on the south end of Cabo Pulmo and snorkel and swim to your hearts content right from the beach.
Google "Los Arbolitos Cabo Pulmo" and you will get lots of hits for advance research.
Free and Palapas.

This Los Arbolitos is 12 or 15 KM from Los Frailes.
The palapa use, beach and snorkeling/swimming from here are all free.
Better to rent a car and drive there with your beach chairs and cooler than give those rude people at Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort and the other or or 5
dive outfits in Cabo Pulmo an exorbitant amount of money -
I don't know what you are ranting about Cap.

thats the name of the arroyo and ranch..been going ther since I think 82 and I am rather fond of the place!!! for your info los frailes proper is the
rocks and hill/point straight out and to the right not the hotel or camping spot that you might be thinking is L.F....I thought (stupid me) someone
was saying somebody was chargeing for the beach axxcess.!!! I used to leave my small cat (boat) on a anchor and do trips out of there back in the
day..when TITO'S was the only res/bar around and really miss how it was just a few yrs ago before the "park" and all the bs that 's happend
since..guess the days of the baja I fell in love with are numberd...no one would/could post a picture of that place and those pics should be pulled if
you cared about the place!!

Alafrontera,
The cruises send EVERYONE to either Chileno or Santa Maria. Both are marginal at best on a good day. The only sightings you will have are other
cruise members fins. Try the day trip as Mula has stated...you will have a great time with some adventure to go along with it.

Corral de Frailes/Los Arbolitos is approximately 2-3 miles south of Cabo Pulmo and maybe a mile north of the bay at Los Frailes.
At one time there was a small fee required to enter the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park but I don't know if that is still being charged. I live
within the Park's boundary and have never paid a fee to use the Park.
I believe that a gringo that lives in La Ribera and a Mexican national have set up an equipment rental in a small rv on the beach at Los Arbolitos. I
don't know if they try and charge anybody anything but the past several times we, along with friends from La Ribera went there to snorkel, nothing was
asked for or paid. And I agree that this is probably the best location for snorkeling in the area.

Folks might have been referring to the fee charged by the National Park. It didn't seem like anyone was pushing it and the worker was surprised we
offered to pay. There's more info and maps here:

On another occasion, we went out with a CP commercial outfit on a pre-arranged package. It was inexpensive and worthwhile.
Most of the time, we just find a safe place with rocky features, get in the water and find lots of interesting sea life. In some snorkeling places on
the East Cape, you can see quite well from a kayak or a stand-up paddle board, especially on a calm day with polarized eyewear.
When the way comes to an end, then change. Having changed, you pass through.

I'm with windgrrl on this one.
We have kayaked and snorkeled in CP, and both were out of this world.
However, alafrontera's timeline probably will not allow enough time for a car rental, and be back to the boat before it leaves.
You can make a deal with a cabbie and still be back in time.

I have dove all over southern Baja and my favorite spot is Punta Perico near Bahia Los Muertos. Lots of grottos, caves, and giant boulders, absolutely
gorgeous spot.
