SCORE Race Dash Plaques 1974-1981 + Corky's too!

Score sold badges or plaques that you could put on your dashboard for any race you were in or attended. Only if you could get to starting location, the day before the race, could you get one from Score merchandising. So, I don't have every one for these years I collected them, but came across these that were once attached to my Subaru dashboard, and reattached to this backing...

Score Riverside Off Road World Championship: 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981.

Score Baja Internacional (what is now called the Baja 500): 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981.

Score Parker 400: 1978, 1980, 1981.

Score Baja 1000 & Baja 1000km: 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979 (contestant).

Score Mexicali 250 (what is now the San Felipe 250): 1979.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of the Nomad Score racers of the 70's & 80's may remember theses, TW, The Bajarunner, Corky, ???

Hah! I will be flying back up the US in September for an elk hunt with my boys....We intend to get rid of the rest of the stuff in boxes, as this will be my last trip north...When I find them, I'll get them to you for your collection..

neat remembering those David

We had a dash board full of them! They went with the Bronco when we sold it. We do have a bunch of the jacket patches from those early years of Score. Maybe I can dig some up.

LOL, I peeled them off my Subaru dashboard to save them! :bounce:

I have a Score jacket patch and one from Dick Cepek the is for those who traveled to the tip of Baja before pavement 'Veteran of The Road'. Maybe when I unpack it at the new place, I will make a Baja jacket an attach them?

Hi Curt... yup, I went to as many SCORE races as I could back in the '70's and '80's.... sometimes ran a pit (Los Campeones Racing Team) and was once a co-driver... so that 'Contestant' plaque from the '79 Baja 1000 is special to me! Time flies, so do the special things you can, when you can... and enjoy your adventures as much as possible...

I agree. That's why I'm a teacher. Very rewarding to see kids learn and lots of play time.

Corky sent me his to share...

Corky emailed me the following 4 photos of his plaques and patches going back to the days of NORRA (before SCORE began running Baja races in July, 1974)... Thanks Corky!

Cool that we were both in the 1979 Baja 1000!

WHOA, this is a trip down memory lane, a bunch of us jumped in a friend's Chevy van and drove up to that "world championship off road race" at Riverside Raceway in 1976. My Hubby and I had just met and we were on a date! Good times! Thanks for sharing these, we are trippin' out right now!

Thank you! The Score Riverside race was a blast. We camped in the infield along with the racer families. Mickey Thompson had a great idea when he brought off road racing to the fans. I went to most of the Riverside Score races from '74 to the '80's. Sad when the tore the raceway down to build a shopping center.

"Finisher Award"

Bilstein used to mail out jacket patches to each team that finished.

Had our team jacket with half dozen sewed on,
then the previous wife tossed the jacket.

So I traded up and got a lady who would never do such a dastardly deed. (I hope)
