Because Doug typically closes threads that have duplicate subject links, maybe to encourage folks to use the SEARCH at the top of the page? I don't
know... it is his baby. Before he closed this thread, I thought I would say why so others don't get upset... I did not say anything bad to Judy, did
I? I tried to be positive about it... I often bump up things for the benefit of new Nomads who may not know to search or know where to search. I hope

I was 12 years old in 1949 and I thought that Butte, MT where I lived was primitive. Looking at the video Cabo looks more like I would have expected
it to look in 1849.

First time to Cabo was in 1966... the road to there was a single track 'Jeep' trail... The town was small and centered around a fish cannery operation
and its pier (located where the marina/ harbor entrance is today). There was one luxury hotel, the Hacienda and 99% of guests were private pilots and
landed on the salt flat behind the hotel (where the marina is now).
Within a couple years, the government built a graded road to Cabo (it had reached just east of San Bartolo when we drove down in '66)... and in 1970,
it was paved to Cabo.
Here is a Cliff Cross map from his 1970 Baja Guide of what Cabo San Lucas looked like:

Didn't look like that six years before. The generator only ran as long as the cannery was running. Medano had six foot waves and was distinctly
uncomfortable to swim. We went to Sta Maria because of the cannery stench. Hotel guests stayed in the hotel I guess and fished and got pickled.

Except for the hotel it doesn't look a lot different than 1949 (21 years of progress).
1970 was only 43 years ago and the progress during those years is amazing (unless you are anti-progress).

I've seen a 'repremanding' of duplicate posts before,
the word PETTY comes to mind, looking at the posts
on this topic, looks like not ALL Nomads read/remember
every post, it makes no difference whether a post is
a duplicate. I did not know one is required to use the search feature to insure one's topic has not been posted in
yrs. past
