SANTA FE (AP) - Governor Richardson and the governor of Chihuahua have a plan for a 600-mile off-road race that would start in Albuquerque and end in Mexico.

The competition is tentatively dubbed the Albuquerque-Chihuahua Off Road Race.

It?s something Richardson and Chihuahua Governor Jose Reyes Baeza Terrazas want to see happen a year from now.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Unser of Albuquerque is working with the two governors to organize the event, but he says many of the proposed race details remain to be worked out.

Unser says the idea is similar to the Baja 1,000 race, but the famous race down the Baja California peninsula doesn?t cross the international border.
