Progress is progress, there will always be growth, but cabo is something altogether different. Cabo builds hotels, timeshare and condos at a rate far exceeding actual visitors, SJD airport has huge traffic approx ~ 3million people come and go each year. But many or most rooms are empty most of the time.

Los Barriles, Buena Vista, La Ribera are different, this is a place with slow growth and limitations on visitors. There are few lots left on the water side of the carretera and slow growth up the mountain. Every year we joke, oh did you hear they paved the road? really? no not really.

20 years ago a beach front lot in LB was $70k, and the home costs additional. Agents imagined the homes were worth 700k-1mil but few ever sold at that price, now there are 2 out of 5 homes for sale, and they still don't get that rate. It's a slow market and very hard to sell an expensive home because few people have 500k-1mil cash for a second home.

So, no, LB and La Ribera will never be cabo and will be slow slow to grow. There are still beach front lots at 70k so little has changed in 20-30 years. I know people who built speculation homes in La Ribera 20 years ago and the homes are hard to rent, they are worth the same as the initial investment today.

Another example is Cardonal to Muertos and Punta Arena, people said there would be hotels and massive growth 20-30 years ago and still not one large hotel has been built, Punta Pescaero and the place at Punta Arena are cheaper now than 15 years ago and growth is slow. It's quieter now than it was 15 years ago.

Good luck with speculation. The best advice for baja is forget everything you think you know.

75 for a maid to come in to clean??? In Mexico?? Wow what a ripoff. I pay 60 here in San Diego and In TJ we pay 200 pesos for the day.

We use a management company to take care of everything. They do a great job keeping things in order and the place is occupied more often than not.

Bledito---when selecting a rental agency make sure that they play by the rules. Agencies are required to pay the taxes (a lodging fee) each month and receive a "factura" from the bank to prove payment. Some agents withhold a large fee for renting your property and also then hide handling fees and a "contract renewal" fee each year. A friend here in Loreto found that her place was being rented often but the agency forgot to somehow tell her about it and she lost a ton of revenue. It helps to have friends with boots on the ground to keep an eye on your house during the year. Be cautious when selecting an agency. Often the agent charges from 10 to 25% of the rental fee for handling your property.
