Aldo, Tucker....How's it goin' in La Paz?

We just got two inches of rain in less than an hour in midtown Tucson today. Flooded streets everywhere. As powerful as the dregs of Ignacio are turning out for us, I can only imagine what it's been like for you guys down there.

Looks on the news like it's pretty much cleared La Paz now. Anybody got a damage report? You guys still got electricity?

I saw a post from Bajabus bemoaning the fact that he's missing being in Baja during the hurricane season. I'm a little jealous too (as long as you still got a little juice for the a/c working!).

I remember being jealous of people who had experienced earthquakes for a long time. I had slept through a couple of small ones in college when I was a little too drunk to wake up after the pachanga. Then I got caught surfing the floor of my friend's house with my two year old in my arms during the Northridge quake and decided the thrill wasn't quite all it was cracked up to be. Probably the same with hurricanes.

Hope you waited to put that new window in, Tucker. Let me know how it's going if you've still got juice.- Stephanie Jackter

I slept through the whole thing!

Boats in the harbor notwithstanding, Ignacio was for me a real non-event. The first night was a little windy at my house (that's why it's constructed of concrete), after about 6 hours of wind and 8 hours of power outage the rest was like a normal California winter storm, only about 3 inches of rain, not the forecast 12 to 20 inches. Major damage here; my 12 foot Ficus Benjamina near the bodega blew over, bracing operations begin manana. All in all, for me, a good drill for a real storm.

Good to hear all is well. You might have lost the ficus, but at least the rest of the garden got a good watering! And maybe Miss Viscious, the gatita finally got let in the house! - Stephanie
