Beach camping w/ motorcycles circa Ensenada?
Any beach campgrounds around Ensenada that allow motorcycle riding on the beach?

Yep...just north of Erendira there is a nice stretch of beach/dunes above Punta Cabras. It's not an organized campground, but has plenty of space to
ride on the beach, surf, fish etc.

It's ok to have to wade through Horse Crap or get ran over by a windsailor but dont dare drive a motorised vehicle on their beach.
Go to San Quintin miles of beautiful white beach and no attitude.

Sounds interesting. I can't find a route from Hwy 1. I have 4wd but pull a 16 foot utility trailer so not too extreme.

I agree with the strict enforcement. Ensenada is a big city with lots of people who would turn the beach into a drag strip or moto-cross track.

Exit Highway 1 at KM78 south of Ensenada, which is at the top right of the map. The exit is clearly marked by a sign for Coyote Cal's Hostel. The road
is paved all the way to the water and takes you through Erendira, then take the dirt up to Cabras. It's got some rough spots but you should be fine
with a trailer if you go nice and slow. I have taken my camper in there with 2WD and it is no problem.

Geoff, thx much for the directions and especially the aerial photo.
Anyone know? How many KM's or minutes do you figure from Hwy 1 to the coast? I found the coordinates of Pta. Cobras; 31.3333 / 116.4667
What services are in the coastal area? Gas, food, store? That is sounding like a good outing for me.

San Quintin is a great area to ride or drive. the beach behind the old La Pinta hotel is littered with sand dollars and other beach combing. You do
need 4X4 or a bike to get you to the water though.

Only a little.
He meant to say land- sailer I'm sure. There are a couple of guys here who like to sail those goofy things on the beach and in a crowd they can be
dangerous.
As far as horse crap goes.........it' anything and everything for tourists, and they rent horses to ride on the beach. Horses do two things a
lot...eat....and crap.

It's about 19KM/25 minute drive from the turnoff to the coast. There are a couple small stores and food stands in town, but no gas. That said, if you
fill up in Santo Tomas you will have more than enough gas for the trip out to Cabras and back.

Agree SQ is good
I just stayed at Cielito Lindo at south end of SQ. The place is pretty much deserted this time of year, but the restaurant is open and served some
tasty meals.
Plenty of places to ride out there.
It was a very high tide but I drove the truck out through the mud flats to explore the shoreline. Lots of places to have fun on motorcycles, wet
and/or dry.
And as Udo said, lots of sand dollars and other interesting shells to collect.
Agree nothing as good near Ensenada. Too much development on shoreline.

Thats a great place to camp a lot of little seculed coves and plenty of whoop te dooos to ride your toys on.

Sadly, the litter, in many cases is just trash. That beach just doesn't have anyone taking care of it.

Bajalearner, everything Geoff and Woody said is correct. Cabras would be a great place to go ride.
It was my first stop ever on a solo trip I did in VW van. I picked that spot because it was the only paved road that left highway 1 in the area.
It's close to city yet remote enough where it's OK to ride your bike and there's some beautiful country out there. Maybe take a bike ride up to Punta
San Jose.
There are some ok taco stands in Erendira. Stop there and eat, then head north to go play. I drove a Toyota Camry in there so you shouldn't have any
problems.
