Loreto is a great place to hang out.

There are lots of places to stay.

We always stay here.

http://www.villasdeloreto.com/

Make sure and take a day and head up to San Javier and check out the mission.

Wish i was going!

All the recommendations are good so far BUT...

don't forget the Iguana Inn. They only have three rooms, one with a kitchenette @ $45 & 2 @ $40 as I recall. Off street parking and gated for 3 cars/close to restaurants and beach, both in walking distance. Mike and Julie are great helping you unload the car etc. The place is spotless and off the street thus quiet. Don't even think you can pop in with out a reservation-

And yes, for 2X/price the VillasdeLoreto is super.

I like every place mentioned although we almost always stay at Villas because of our dogs(they dont get along with Mike and Julie's female). Coco Cabanas is also nice. I believe that it is on Davis but there are signs around town. It is brand new and spotless too.
Have fun! Dont forget El Rey de Taco for killer tacos de cabeza, pescado, camerones....I am making myself hungry.

We always stay at the Villas for a lot of reasons...not the least of which, is that it is right on the water, is quieter than in town, and the owners and staff are really nice and helpful.
It is more expensive than some other places...and we have met people who have been very happy with the Iguana and with the Plaza Loreto.

I second and third the recommendation of VillasdeLoreto. They have a great pool, free use of Kayaks, very nice outdoor restaurant for b'fast, lunch, dinner (they'll clean and cook your catch ifyou fish). If you wnat to spend the money and want more space I highly recommend the Beach House. And the owners and staff are great.

Villas are right on the beach...
5 minutes from the marina but too long to walk in the summer.

We've left our boat anchored right in front at night.
3 minutes from the bait sellers in the morning.

Ask for a room by the pool. There are 5 or 6 there.
Plenty of boat parking inside the walls.

This place is the BEST!!!
Ron and Wendy are very professional:yes::yes:

At the risk of getting flamed...

for even mentioning it, we stayed one night at La Posada de Las Flores on our first visit to Loreto earlier this fall. Price excepted (it is muy caro by BCS standards), it is a beautifully restored building, but because it was virtually vacant (only one other room appeared to be occupied), it lacked the warmth of the other motels/inns we stayed at. We'd like to stay at the Iguana Inn or Villas recommended above next time we visit. They look more similar in atmosphere to Las Casitas in Mulege, where we truly enjoyed the hospitality of Sr. Zuniga and lush setting. Buena suerte.

gato, unfortunately, no, although we did hang out on the rooftop patio and admired the view of the town, nearby mission, and Sierra de las Gigantas - muy tranquilo. The glass bottom of the pool was composed of spaced-apart panels or panes. I'll see if I can dig up and post a photo. Recuerdos.

All good suggestions..

My company books hotels in Loreto and I live here and of those mentioned here the

Villas de Loreto

is the most popular.

I book La Pinta most often but that's for fishing guys. Its an OK place but you can do better for the price. villas de Loreto is slightly less in price. Iguana Inn is unbelieveable for the price, but only three so gotta reserve quick.

another is CoCo Cabanas $65/night w/pool, kitchens, downtown.

all depends on what y0u want.

And Posada de Las Flores is NOT a restored building. They built it from the ground up in 1998 and oppened in early 2000. Nice place if you hae the loot.
