Discover Baja OLD MISSIONS PowerPoint Lecture July 24, DIRECTIONS ADDED, full house.
Discover Baja Travel Club is hosting Max Kurillo and myself to provide their members and other guests a one hour lecture with slides of each mission.
We illustrate the true order the missions were founded and end the myth that San Diego was the first mission and that they were built to the north at
regular intervals.
We also show how missions were founded in Baja California and Alta California during the same years and both the last mission founded and the last
mission operating were in Baja California.

Discover Baja is pleased to announce that David Kier and Max Kurillo, co-authors of The Old Missions of Baja & Alta California
1697-1834″ will be giving a lecture about the missions of Baja & Alta California on Thursday, July 24th at 7:00pm in San Diego. Join us as
we learn about where and when the missions were founded and how they interact. The lecture will highlight how the Baja and Alta missions were built
during the same years and relate to one another. The missions are an important part of California history for both Baja and Alta California. Many of
the missions or mission sites are still accessible today. This will be a treat for history buffs, adventure seekers and Baja lovers. Youll learn
about the missions like youve never seen or realized before!
Copies of The Old Missions of Baja & Alta California 1697-1834" will be available for purchase and signing.

Not yet... we don't read from scripts... it comes from the heart and memory... as we live the mission story. No two lectures are alike. We have one
photo of each mission plus maps showing where the mission is in relation to others.
I talk about the Baja missions and Max talks about the Alta missions, and he is the expert on the El Camino Real bells, too (on with Huell Howser for
a rare one hour special).

I don't think I will be able to give more details on the helicopter trip there, like I can have already here on Nomad... We only have an hour, then 30
minutes for Q & A and book signing. I am happy to have you ask away here on Nomad in the three threads I have for the 3 day adventure!

Baja Angel and I stopped by to visit Max and Erline today in El Cajon. Max wanted me to see what he had been working on for our lectures. We were most
impressed with the large display photos of several missions Max had made, and will be at all our future presentations.

Thanks. Yes exciting to have so many folks interested in our California mission history. The room holds 65, all reserved, plus a waiting list is
building for any cancellations.
Just 4 days later, we are doing it again in Riverside County for the Temecula Valley Historical Society. I am still getting details but what I have so
far:
Monday July 28, 6 pm, is our second lecture of the month and is in Temecula.
Here are the directions:
The History Center is the red barn west of Kohls in south Temecula at the corner of Wolf Store Road and Redhawk Parkway.
Navigation units and Mapquest will not get you there as they don't recognize the street address.
Exit Interstate 15 on Temecula Parkway and turn right on Redhawk Parkway.

Thank you both for coming to our show and hope it was enjoyable. Not quite as crowded as Comicon!
While Max was talking, I took three photos with my telephone, and I can see you just to the left of Max, who is in the center...
On the far right you can see we have beautiful Jack Swords and other photos which Max has enlarged to poster size on easels. San Javier is on the far
left, and we had 6 more.
