Site Delays Due To Traffic

Due to a dramatic increase in traffic on this site in the past few days, there may be periods of time where the site is unavailable.

This is due to the fact that the account, as it's presently setup, and on the server (computer) it's on, is designed for less traffic.

If the migration of "Amigos" members continues on its present pace, it will necessitate moving the bajanomad.com site and forums to another server I have that can accomodate the traffic being generated from the influx of new visitors.

While that process isn't complicated for me, it would create a period of 2-4 days (approx) where there would be a state of "flux" in what you saw on the forums, the order of postings, etc. In other words, it might be a mess for a few days. After the few days were up, it would all gel back together again. -- and yes, I would still have the old postings still in place. Any postings during the transition would be at risk of being lost however.

I'll make the determination after another week or two as to how things are progressing and how much traffic is being experienced.

Regards,

Doug, If you would like a financial contribution to offset the cost of bandwidth please let me know. I would be more than happy to help.

Good luck if you decide to make the move.

I'm kind of in the poor house right now...

but I could probably kick in 10 or 20 bucks if that would help defray some cost, too. - Stephanie

Considering all the work involved to keep us Baja Amigos/ Baja Nomads happy, a small contribution is a great idea. For entertainment, we pay for magazine subscriptions or cable tv.

Also, perhaps we can encourage Doug to offer shirts, hats, and decals to raise money... If it says 'Baja' or has a peninsula map on it, I'll buy it!!!

Thanks Doug for making 'your house' our new home: VIVA BAJA NOMAD!

Thanks everyone.

Let's see how things go over the next 10-14 days...

Might need to put up one of those PayPal donation links if it gets to be a concern (at first)... I'd prefer to provide something more in return like David K mentions, like apparel, etc.

As mentioned though, let's wait and see over the next few days how it goes, and make a determination at that point.

Thanks again for your kind offers and thoughts.

Regards,

Baja Disscssion Center

For some time the Baja Disscussion Center has been unavailable. Do any one of you know what the problem is?
Is it a virus?
