Leaving for Asuncion tomorrow, few last questions.

Ok we are finally leaving Mon morning the 4th. We are going to spend the night at "The Mission Inn" in San Quintin before heading to Asuncion on Tuesday. Question is....good place to eat dinner, near our hotel in San Quintin? Should I unload the contents of roof rack into our room, so it doesn't disappear over night?

let your conscience be your guide, Grasshopper! just know how much it'll suck to wake up and not have your stuffs......

tons of places to eat along the way. you do realize that San Q is only 3.5-4 hours SOB? add another 1.5 to the border from Riverside and you'll be looking for lunch by the time you arrive. i'd drive to G Negro-another 4 hours.

splurge a bit and enjoy a really nice hotel in Catavina. Plus an evening hike among the boulders. Sq is pretty boring and hotels are average.

"...... you do realize that San Q is only 3.5-4 hours SOB? " IF you drive full-out. Good rule of thumb this time of year, if you get to San Quintin BEFORE 2 pm, you have another 4 hours to Guerrero and daylight. If not, take your time and enjoy the drive. Live long and prosper.

Catavina is very special! Let me see if I can find a link with some nice pics.

Great rule of thimb to see how long it takes you to get SQ and then take it from there. No rush....Asuncion will be awaiting with open arms.

Come visit La Bocana

Cataviņa is about 2, 2 1/2 hours from SQ. Be sure to gas up at El Rosario.

There are a couple (or just one now) cheap motels there, and one pricey old, but nice La Quinta Hotel (on right side) that has a restaurant. The old ranchero of Santa Ynez a mile south used to rent out 'bunkhouse' rooms and had a small family kitchen. Stayed there once, but that was 11 years ago. For security, the La Quinta would be your best bet; ain't cheap though. I'd guess around $80/night give or take.

Everyone has their preferred place to stay.

I've enjoyed Hotel Mision in Catavina. The rooms are dated but comfortable, the grounds are pleasant and the restaurant has great views of the boulder field just outside the doors. It's a good place to stop the first night.

most La Quinta Hotels are North of the border. So the OP does not get confused, the Hotel Mision Catavina, is on thewest side of the hwy middle of town. There are No La Quinta hotels there.

Sowwy, was going by VERY old memories. Used to be the 'chain' down Hwy 1. And, i believe it used to be 'La Qinta'... My apologies.

It's a beautiful part of Baja. These photos were taken within a ten minute walk from the hotel.

Right across the street from the big Hotel is a cafe next to the old Pemex. They are a nice family, and I have always enjoyed authentic local food at their tables. Even watched part of the "lights out" Superbowl on their dish!
