spearfishing
Plan to do some fishing and spearfishing between Puertocitas and gonzaga in about a month. Anyone have any good spots they wouldn't mind sharing. Does
anyone know if alfonsinas has a/c

Alfonsinas has air at night. Sometimes you have to ask. Around the point of the marker light you can run into some fish like medium Yellow Tail. There
is an Island out from there but I haven't been there. Puertocitos has diving there but have not shot anything there.

I would guess you are on your own as to the "good spots"...but with the new road, the further south the better!

Never hurts to ask. Good spots are easy to find in baja, especially in the summer on the cortez side .

There is a small group of islands about 8 miles and a mile or two off shore north of Gonzaga. Can't go wrong there. Watch out for the sea lions.

No good shore diving for spearfishing in gonzaga , if you have a kayak try the points of isla Willard. Just keep a eye on the wind it can come up
quickly

ehall, I dive Gonzaga a lot and my two favorite places are the rocks by Punta Final and the eastern most inlet on the north side of the bay, straight
off from Alfonsinas. I have taken a very large halibut and missed a shot at a large golden grouper at that site. Pargo and triggers abound by the
Punta Final rocks. A few triggers off of the beach and an occasional small bass, but nothing consistent and I wouldn't waste my time. Freediverbrian
was correct about the wind, usually comes up about 1:00 will stay high until it starts to get evening. Just a caution.

Punta Final is fun. The backside of the rock has a small amphitheater like area where I take some sierra out and chum in a crowd of fish to observe
and find some lures.

A "golden grouper" is nothing more than a yellow leopard grouper, they aren't a separate species, I hear they taste like chicken grouper

A golden grouper is just a cabrilla sometimes called a leaporad grouper that has a color change it is not a rare species . Just a horse of a different
color . A pretty color.
