I'd love to have the speed, but the data cap is a deal killer.

I notice in the speed checks that Russ posted that even though the UL and DL speed is very good, the latency is very high (Ping > 600ms) I would think that would make for bad VOIP connections. Are you saying that VOIP is working well with this much latency?

actually a lower ping number is better...the bigger the number the slower the ping

normally software takes care of this problem...computers are pretty "smart"

Osiris,

I have been trying to contact you through Baja Nomads U2U service, but have been unsuccessful. We are prepared to go ahead and have Exede installed.

Please email me right away at: schwlind@mindspring.com

Just a suggestion.

I see there are folks using Skype and Magic Jack.

I have been using, for voice only, Obi Hai www.obihai.com or it can be purchased from Amazon or Fry's electronics.

It works in conjunction with Google Voice. You pay a one time fee for the unit, get a google voice account and you now have a FREE US based phone number. You can also buy cheap minutes to dial into Mexico. 5 cents to call a cell in Mex or 1 cent to call a land line in MX.

I have had mine for several years and have got my moneys worth.

And as a side note, if you don't have a Google Voice Number, get it!!

You can control your phone number in so many ways it is a real benefit.

What wifi router do you recommend to use with the Excede system.....I was told the net gear nighthawk AC1900 is the best. Can you confirm ? Will bring one from the US so it can be installed along with the system if this is true...thx

here is the router you want with exede with data restrictions
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/shop

there isn't a router that limits data on a daily basis right now
it's the software/firmware in the router that does it

I've been using this guy all summer...works great

you do have to "learn" the system...its not plug and play because everyone has different "needs"
the seller is outstanding with support

I've also noticed some "smart phones" log on with different channels
our router is a dual band router

good luck with that
