We went out to put up Hurricane Cloth at Punta Chivato this morning and hit a storm cell on the way out that dumped a big load of rain and wind, but things are settled down a little bit right now. None of the Arroyos North of Mulege are running water. The road to Chivato was 4 wheel drive needed so that will probably go out pretty quick when the rain starts in earnest.
The locals have prepared well and it is almost impossible to find beer anywhere in Santa Rosalia. I saw one truck loading up and they bought everything available from the little Pacifico store on the north side of the malecon.

The first arroyo going north from Los Barriles is running bank to bank, people to the north will be stranded for a while. Lots of flooding and debris in the road, some palapa roofs damaged. The big palapa in Buena Vista was flattened as well as the small ones to the south of it. Lots of work to do.....

Almost 1pm here in Lopez. Still nasty - strong wind, rain, and very noisy but I don't think we are getting the worst of it.

I think the eye is north of us toward Loreto now.

Still no power or telephones. TV and Satellite Internet are working with the generator.

Actually I think it is the 16th which is Dia De Independencia which would be tomorrow. Several were open, but the others said they sold out early. I know they are closed tomorrow.

Thank you for the update dtbushpilot on Los Barilles.

Many of us from points north, El Cardonal, Punta Pescadero, etc. are worried about our neighbors. We've had no communication since yesterday morning. Please post any info you receive. Thanks!:saint:

One board on the south side came off, all others in place. You have a little bit of clean up to do like everyone else but I didn't see any structural issues. I sent you an email with a couple of pictures, let me know if you don't get them and I'll try something else.

Los Cabos airport isn't looking too good.. almost unreal how damaged it got.

PHOTO REMOVED BECAUSE IT'S A DIFFERENT AIRPORT.
link to original photo: http://www.itravel-cabo.com/news/cabo-news/cabo-airport-tras...

EDIT: You know.. what part of the airport even is that? It's not the old terminal.. and it looks too large to be the new terminal, yet the photo is supposedly of the airport this morning.

We are getting slammed right now with wind and sandstorm.

sprinkles of rain

no big waves

how the heck is the internet still up and running? and electricity still on? will wonders never cease.

Les says the worst is coming at 10 pm. I hope I am sound asleep cause right now it sounds as if the house is going to lift up just like in the wizard of oz. and our house and B&B are both built like fortresses.

My heart goes out to those who live in little rinky dink houses in town - no way are they going to stand up to these sustained winds if this goes on too much longer as predicted.

No pics - I shattered the glass on my Ipad and will have to hunt for the camera.

Punta Pequeña/SJ 2:50pm

Wind still fairly light and just increased to 18-24mph from the North. Light rain. But the pressure is down the 997mb and the weather monitor keeps flashing the message - "falling rapidly".

Nothing special to see in a photo yet.
