For some here it is to demigod corporations and American business. To put their trust in government bureaucrats who are often thousands of miles removed from where they want to micro manage. To punish success and reward failure. To redistribute wealth with the result of making us all poor, and somehow that is the only way to be fair. TALKING POINT FROM THE EXTREME....NO FACT HERE!

For the rest it is to have a choice and pick the best available things for our needs. To use our money to support business (which hires and pays workers and makes a profit which is returned to investors and pays taxes). To have money to help others, and improve our lives. To want everyone to have success. Instead of lowering people to be fair, let's raise people through employment and opportunity. Corporations must do what the people want since it is their dollars that keep a corporation alive. They must compete for your business by making the best product at the best price. The people choose with their dollars. CORPORATIONS DO WHAT MAKES A PROFIT EVEN IF IT DOES NOT HELP MOST PEOPLE

My advice, don't trust government... be wary of anything they do. We hope they do right or that they can't do too much damage while in power. Sometimes government does do good and only those things the Constitution outlines as its duties. Other times the government ignores the Constitution and uses presidential powers in dictatorial actions that are claimed to be for the good of the people but instead are for job security for the bureaucrats. TURNS OUT THAT MOST THINGS UNCONSTITUTIONAL ARE PASSED BY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR DONE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR. NOT BY THE PRESIDENT. CHECK SUPREME COURT RULINGS ON CONSTITUTIONALITY.

Power belongs to the people and government is supposed to serve the people to do only those things the people cannot do on their own: to protect people from force or fraud.
THE PEOPLE SPOKE....YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO LISTEN.

Best way to comment on your post directly. Caps so you might just read it. What you can not respond? Makes you feel uneasy? the days your father took care of you are gone my friend. Some do not believe the U.S.A. is in decline and are happy now. The just believe people should quit whining and get a job. Because those have chosen not to look at alternatives in the job market, they will become a drain on others in their declining years.

Are you suggesting that DK look beyond watering lawns as a career? And that he might end up on welfare later?

If the shoe fits?

For some people, I don't see much planning for retirement. Don't know what happens to their health care if their spouse dies. They have no home. What are they going to do in their premier years?

I complain about this government only because it didn't need to destroy or try and destroy American prosperity. It is prosperity that allows people to buy and spend money on things that they like and want and not just need to have. Landscape and home improvements take a second place behind keeping a home in the first place. The government should not be the thing that grows when the people have to cut back. Government does not create wealth, it only takes it away.

I am now winding down in life since my children are adults and taking care of themselves. After 34 years in this industry, is it not a surprise that I won't have a chance to master a new trade and get priority hiring, at my age? I think I will hang on to what I do best, and continue to provide high quality irrigation and landscape lighting systems as well as teach history of Old California and provide guide service upon request.

OH please. Then why haven't you ever had a business license (information is available on-line)? Why haven't you ever saved enough for a home...for retirement? You complain about this government because it is convenient for you to do so. You made your choices over the last 30 some years...live with them, but do not make excuses.

Now lets get back to this frackin business.

Geeze Dave, this is frackin crazy. If you are going to post your life on the internet then EVERYONE is going to know about you and your life and your politics, etc (I remember you postin about your breakup). And if you family members post their lives, where they work, photos, etc, then everybody is going to know that too. Live with it... and its a lesson to others that think the internet is a place to bare all.

I raised two children as a single father and their mother never paid a dime in child support. I made enough to provide a nice home for the three of us, and for 6 when I remarried for 5 years, when the kids were small. I could afford to rent a home in a nice area, have a work truck that could go off road too, and take us camping for fun. That was all, but for me was enough.

After my youngest turned 18 and had moved out, I married again and we were going to be able to save for our future. Sadly instead of things staying the same (or growing as it had been since I began my business) the democrats had taken over congress and made banking regulations which doomed new home ownership or property investing. That hurt all of us in the home improvement business.

I will ask again, stop fixating on me and my life. I don't hide and shouldn't have to. This is a place were Baja should be a common thread for friendship.

I only ask for truth... I never called any Nomad a loser or follow every post any one Nomad makes to belittle him with snide or untrue comments. I have apologized any time I strayed, I am not perfect, but I have NEVER received an apology from any of the many name callers who insulted me.

Kinda like the current Dakota experiences, returning 'Nam vets take high paying jobs, live in tent camps (not so many RV's back in that day). Nam vets were notorious for being battle hardened, violent and wanting their vices, drugs and women. It took the area 25 years to recover and many residents died in that process. But that's just my experience so I'm sure you have an objective view........

Also, since you seem to believe yourself to be the only expert, I grew up working the original fracs in the Johah field, Pinedale Anticline and Wamsutter field....I've got history working ranches, fields and underground mining throughout the late '60s, 70's and so on. I'm happy to exchange stories and real information about these topics. I would also point out that those areas bear little resemblance to what they looked like 50 years ago. 5 acre well pads, roads, gas condensers, well heads, pipelines and those pesky dumps of both solid and liquid waste.

My bro' in law has been a well inspector for Wyoming for 3 decads and I've run an OIL/Natural Gas blog elsewhere on the interwebs for well over a decade....happy to swap credentials with you if you have more than industry sponsored hype to share........

What a relief, I was getting tired of carrying the ball as "the only expert" about oilfield issues on Nomad. I've spent the last year scouring stories on the internet pouring over every internet blog I can find to sound like the local expert on all things "energy". I was about to run out of "industry sponsored hype", this couldn't have come at a better time. To tell you the truth it is like a stone has been lifted off my head, it is actually a relief to have been "found out". I'm going to seek out a group, perhaps a 12 step program to try to get my life back.

You've got the ball sweetwater, run with it....

Show me where I single out any Nomad (who has not attacked me first) with name calling. Show me where I told any Nomad he was a loser. Half of what people? I am here to help others and make friends.

Some of you might be here to troll for drama and some follow me around because they know I don't back down or they hope to gain some points with their comrades if they get me to leave?

I don't back down from my American beliefs and don't expect others to change theirs... just stop trying to destroy mine.

I have made a lot of effort to make a being part of the Baja Internet a fun and informative place... I organized get-togethers and helped others do the same, so we can meet, have fun, learn, and more.

I disagree with DK on many things Baja but I do not remember him calling anybody names or personally attacking them first, He might baited a few. He has every right to post what he does and some of us can disagree.

I give DK credit for being a tax dollar producer rather than a tax dollar parasite.

David, on occasion, you have made some insensitive remarks. You have called me a union thug and a socialist along with others. Do I care? No. Bottom line is this forum should be about Baja and not our political beliefs.

Oh what the frack am I talking about, I think it's great that David is able to contribute cost of all the unfunded wars and tax breaks for Big Oil.:lol:

As far as tax payer... oh indeed yes, if I didn't pay so much tax money, I could have a retirement savings and more Baja fun trips! 4 times a year I pay thousands as a self employed business owner.

Now, let's have fun... and until I have a Mr. Fusion on my Tacoma, I need gasoline... so drill baby drill!

I am impressed. Thousands 4 times a year in tax payments.. You should be happy with the economy the way it is. Now I know why you don't take trips...You are too busy...figuring all those tax payments

I would like to see quotes where I called you those names Zac. If I did than I am sorry. To me Union thugs are those people you pay dues to who live in La Costa and cause problems that hurt everyone. If you are a socialist, I hope that will change with maturity, but it doesn't affect my friendship feelings and I again don't remember calling you that. Sorry.
Thank God for Big Oil so we can drive to Baja (and to work). I hope you like contributing to Big Government... but just what product does it make that we all need?
