Something to look at. A few examples of 'rolling docks' below.
As the Mulege dock builders know, these type of movable docks have been in use in our Up North area lakes for 50 years and more. I've been using mine
on the Rainy River -Canada/US border for quite some time. Before that, Dad built one for our family cabin at Red Willow Lake, ND in 1955. Winter
comes and lakes and rivers freeze up solid....with very thick ice. Folks got tired of the continuous seasonal repairs to their boat docks after
spring 'ice out', so lots of business's started up fabricating these types of docks. Today builders and sellers are literally all over the place.
You can buy new, build your own if you're handy, or buy used. For reference, good used prices run from $500 to $2000 in our lake area for a long dock
with an 'L'.
But Mulege ain't exactly next door....and the aduana would have a fit trying to figure the import fee....so naturally it's do-it-yourself (with the
added factor of saltwater, tides, and use of floats.)
The Mulege boat ramp area has the same characteristics as most soft bottom lakes....so some of these might be an idea for the inventive Mulege group
of volunteers.
Here's some photos...
Could be hauled out with some advance warning and without too much trouble. A couple fellows and a pickup and it's high and dry. (So it says in the
fine print..I've done mine myself with the aid of a good cussing vocabulary)
Anyway, there's great minds at work in Mulege...and hope this helps. I'd sure like to launch there again one day soon. Good Luck, Mulege!

These look great... with the exception that the estuary isn't a lake... the water level is not static. the tide goes out the tide comes in..
But with the engineers around Mulege they should be able to attach floaties to it and anchor it from following the current.
Might work anyway,, thats why I am not a dock builder...
This area gets hammered every flood... the road and parking lot are just above high tide level..
Of course most of you know the conditions....
Looks like the shoreline might have changed also....
Look forward to what happens for both sides of the estuary for all fishermen and ladies...

Those who wish to go out fishing now are doing so successfully
on both sides of the river, dock or no dock.
The local pangeros in town have launched on both sides of the river.
Because they go out daily they're leaving their boats on the riverbank:
north river, they're launching by the old hotel and docking near Gringo's house;
south river the pangas are docked further east of where the Donation Pier was.
A first-hand report from a resident fisherman on their experiences
now would be welcome.

The damage looks even worse at low tide. The ramp has been recovered from PC and negotiations are on going for the dock. There is alot of concrete
work to be done before they could possibly be used. The road in front of the runway is basically gone as is the road behind the Serinidad.

Thats way worse than I imagined....And I wonder how much silt was dumped at the river mouth? Negated all that dredge work?

The river ran chocolate brown for about 3 weeks after this flood,
probably because of the dredging up in the valley.

Quick question,,, Mateo lived just above the ramp and around the hill in the picture... Did he move before the flood and is his place gone or
there???? Also the little military hut was there also.... maybe WAS????
Mateo needed help before this... we always had them clean our fish and took him out with us when we could...

Edited to report that my husband spoke with Mateo tonight, Wed, Oct 22.
Mateo did have to evacuate from his house for several weeks after the flood. He is back in his house now and would surely like to take folks out
fishing, he says. He needs work -- now. In addition to the urgent need for work and food, Mateo reports he's got several really bad toothaches--
sheesh! poor guy!
Frankly, we know that times are tough for him, now more than ever. He and the other pangeros need work and they need food for themselves and their
families.
Mateo sends his regards to his Nomad fishermen buddies and expressed his gratitude in the ongoing concern of everyone.

Mateo survived as did his casa, but it must have been rough. The water line is closer to his casa now, but not up to his fence. If you want to charter
a panga, Mateo is your guy. The military shack is gone, but the military block buildings survived and are freshly painted.

Looks like there has already been some first hand reporting along with pictures. Suggest if you want to go fishing get your a$$ out there with a
shovel and get to work.

Looks like 2 tons of work instead of 1 ton just to get around to the ramp/dock area...
Anyone have an accounting of where we are on the goal to get this done?????
We will have soon some 5x5 inch window decals with Hurricane Odile Survivor Mulege 2014 for sale at $50 pesos each... all proceeds will go to the
dock/ramp we have minimal cost involved actuall donated.... they have a wave/palm trees similar to the old One bad day in Mulege decals...

I will be happy to donate once a plan is in place with an estimate of costs; and my guess is there are lots of us out here in the same position since
I can't launch my boat without concrete and a dock. That said, I'd like to see the plan before I send $$. The last time the Rotary asked for money
we were told that Saul would make food boxes for the locals after the flood, so that was enough of a plan for me and I donated. Same theory here.

JUST THINKIN'....
The term, 'No Bad Days' has always seemed a double-negative to me.
NO........BAD......... starts the whole thing off to the dark. A suggestion:
"IT'S ALL GOOD" or, "ALL GOOD DAYS" ... something upbeat? The 'no bad' has been over-used; does anyone have alternative ideas? I have,
and will donate to whatever comes up, because IT'S ALL GOOD, que no? The Li'l ville that keeps on keepin' on......
