la lobera
i was once told that la lobera was a pretty cool spot to check out to break out a long drive.
Yesterday as i was driving back to the border i decided to take the turn for la lobera and check it out. came to a Y in the road and both the left
and right looked very well traveled. No sign to point which road to take. I followed the road to the left, that followed some power lines, till i
got to a sizable downhill section that was a little sketchy looking for my subaru outback so i decided not to check it out. was that the right road?
i went back and took the other road and came up to the top of a hill and it looked a loooong ways down to the coast so i opted just to head back home
sooner then later.
I guess i am wondering which way at the Y. and how long of a drive is it out to the hole? I would love to check it out but i am also not looking to
add an hour or two to a drive that needs no extension.

Follow the power lines (left)... it's only 3 miles from hwy. The Outback can do more than that!

Back when I had a 2002 Outback wagon, I took the power poles line. i made it both ways OK, but had to air down on the soft sand.

May, 2005:
LA LOBERA (Sea Lion Crater)
Actually a huge sea cave with a sky light! The unmarked good road leaves Hwy. 1 at Km. 47.5
(6 miles north of El Rosario's Pemex station), and goes 3 miles to the parking area next to the rope-fence surrounded 'crater'.
Oct., 2005:
6 miles north of El Rosario, a dirt road goes west 1/2 mile, then south 2 1/2 more miles to this giant open roof sea cave/ crater where sea lions
(lobos) can be seen far below on their own private beach.
Apr., 2006:
Lobsters, abalone and other sea food will be grown in this man made pool at La Lobera.
Nov., 2006:
Six miles north of El Rosario (Km. 47 1/2) take the road along the power lines 3 miles to La Lobera, the sea lion crater.
