Missing Pictures
Been looking at last years topics and I find my pics, but many others are broken meaning not view-able. I only use Photobucket. Are others using
something else and that caused them to be deleted?
I did notice that the dropbox pics are gone.

You'll have to give me a link to an example of what you're referencing.
Might be issues on the other end at Photobucket or Dropbox.

Yours are all visible.
Ken's are on his Facebook account, and Facebook has updated their system (since that time) to not allow visibility with photos that were not given
global view status in the user's permissions when posted.
David was just copying the links Emerson was trying to display - they're not David's images or account.
And per David's direct links, those images have since been moved or deleted from Emerson's Dropbox account.

Lost pics
So all that means is the links are of little value since the pics are gone.
Why not ban facebook pics?
BTW I did look at Kens FB and found he said to go to Nomads link and the same result. No surprise. I never did get to the real FB pics.
Does not matter because the info is to old anyway.

Paul, when Ken Cooke or anyone who changes their photo location (moves them to another album, etc.) does so without a new link to replace it, we only
have old dead links.
I think I have 'yelled' at Ken about it already... I did not know about Emerson's... He had some great back country photos of his small Toyota 4WD
group (from Mexicali) exploring Baja. He may have removed some following the grief he got from another Nomad for driving up a road that was believed
to be 'closed'? Emerson is Mexican, and I don't think non-Mexicans should be telling Mexicans where they can go in their own country, but that's just
me?

Its a good reminder to not re-organize the Photobucket Albums. So far I think I have mine is good shape. Ha. At least until I find a misplaces ones.

What to do, is just leave the old ones alone and re-upload any pics from your PC to a new album for your own re-organizing. But, if you move the one
existing image to a new album, it is lost anywhere that link was posted. There are warnings on Photobucket that this will happen IF you move a photo
from one album to another.
I got introduced to Photobucket by other Nomads, and even with a few issues along the way, it serves well as a photo hosting site to share pictures on
Nomad or other forums. Plus it is so easy to set the upload size to 800 pixels or less before uploading, I don't know why some folks are resisting the

Some people remove many pictures from photobucket or other places after a short time as too often some pictures tend to show up in other places or are
used by other people, including members of the board, and used without permission. And photobucket does tend to reduce the quality of the pictures
--- good enough and easy enough for using here.
Since photos posted here are not protected according to the agreement for using this site, it is just better sometimes to post them, and then remove
them.
And others don't want to pay photobucket and remove pictures so they do not go over the limit for free photos.

Lot's of other web sites and even a Mexican magazine have 'taken' my photos and it has little to do with Photobucket. They have been taken from my web
site and probably from Baja Nomad (not all here are from Photobucket). In most cases, I consider it a complement but it would have been courteous if
those other sites or magazines asked or at least credited where the photos came from. No big deal, as it usually is harmless and if it spreads the
good word about Baja travel, and that helps the people of Baja, then I am thrilled. What is a photo anyway? Just a look, and in the case here, a look
at someone else's country. Thank you Mexico!

You might have alerted me to this, but you didn't yell, David.
I will have to make the photos behind the dead links 'public' but first, I will need to locate which photo album behind each particular link and make
those 'public'. Additionally, I am now using Photobucket, which is much more time-intensive for posting photos than with Facebook. Change is never
easy.

The changes were increasing file max from 50 to 250 kbs and the image to 800 pixels and more than one per post.

photobucket vs flickr
Unfortunately photobucket uses your album name in the URL (link) to your image. Reorganizing your images breaks all the links you have posted. Flickr
also gives you the ability to organize images by albums but this is not reflected in the image link. For that reason it's much more flexible. There
are many other reasons why flickr is superior to photobucket.

It was other Nomads who referred me to use Photobucket way back in 2008 or about, so that is what I learned to use. Now I have thousands of photos and
maps on it, and rarely any issues.
Too bad that I wasn't told about Flickr, I suppose? Does it have a simple upload options/ size selection (like Photobucket has) so images to share
here can be correctly set to 800 pixels or less? I ask, because even with the simple one click and save on Photobucket, there are still a couple of
Nomads who can't seem to get that done?

When I uploaded the original image it gives me these other size options which I can download that same image. I never use them because although they
look sharp I know there is image degradation to any resizing.
Below is a RAW (TIF) files that can be converted to various size jpegs should you desire them. It seems to always include the 800 pixel option.

Also, Flickr has been well integrated into iphone. You can take a shot on the road and directly upload it into you an album. I created an album in
flickr before the alaska trip and was uploading snapshots whenever I had connectivity, either AT&T or wifi. It gives a sense of realism. In my
opinion people your images are valued more when delivered one at a time than as a group. And if done in real time so much the better.
Flickr is owned by Yahoo and therefore support should be more reliable. There are other better photostorage websites as well.
