THE BUDDY SYSTEM

I believe in the 'buddy system'. Always try to be open to change and adaptability for conservation and equilateral savings, and less stress on the earth ecosystems.
I've always maintained a system of frugality regarding underwear; I'd buy 12 pair of Hanes Tighty-whitey's every New Year's day....... one for January, February, March, etc..... and on the 15th of each month turn the current pair inside-out for cleanliness, hence a clean pair every 2 weeks. Worked fine for years.
This week I was visited by an old Baja friend Chuck (who will go un-named), and after a few toddies concurred that if we posted each year's discards to each other by USPS, the cost of postage would offset the cost of a new dozen Hanes by several cents, therefore saving not only our own meager earnings, but at the same time, cutting down the resources of cotton, elastic, etc..... and another year's enjoyment of comfort.
Conserve! I say, fellow greenie/brownies!

That 12 pair should last you at least 4 years - the math should be revisited.

If we could only find tighties in a camouflage pattern, it would be less awkward in those increasingly rare times when we have human company.
Maybe tie dying like a 70s T-shirt would do the trick!

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Funny you should mention: when I had my wonderful Southeast Asian Vacation ('70 & '71) the Army only issued o.d. green boxers, which I can't stand, so I had my mother dye up half a dozen pairs of tighty-greenies for me so I wasn't so.... shall we say... conspicuous a target during those certain moments of relieving myself. Quite the unusual 'care package' from home, que no?

Beside inside out you can extend life by wearing them backwards also. That way you will have 4 fresh clean undies and only need 6 pairs per year!
What do I know though. I only wear my pancho in Baja (commando style of course)!

In our A.O. the elephant grass, wait-a-minute vines, leeches, etc. prohibited bare legging it; top half we just wore an o.d. towel with a slit cut in it like a mimi-serape, the corners tied with trip-wire. I still have my original towel on my wall next to me here in my man-cave, still has little rust-stains in the corners from the wire.
Ah, such fond memories....

I was in the same playground '70 - '71. Had hot & warm water and an air conditioned work environment. Extended for a 2nd vacation and got OUT 6 months early! Oh, Green boxers were OK.
