1966 Trip to Cabo!
Here I am next to a cardon, on our Jeep Wagoneer trip to the tip of Baja (nearly 800 unpaved miles)!

Another shot of our room... anyone recognize the red brick construction? We stayed at one or both Los Barriles resorts (Rancho Buena Vista & Bahia de
Palmas, which was renamed Palmas de Cortez).

Cabo San Lucas around 1963
David, a friend of mine gave me this photo of the Hacienda Hotel near the entrance of the marina in Cabo. He thought it was around 1963 when he sailed
down from Los Angeles. Do you remember it looking like this?

It would be fun to find that same old cardon in the first picture wouldn't it? Though I haven't met you in person yet , I could easily tell it was you
in those photos. I wonder if the cardon has changed? Great to see this kind of stuff and definitely not boring!

Dave---The rooms in the pictures are from rancho buena vista. That same brick work can be found on site and at three homes just north of the hotel
that they rent out long term. One of the homes that some friends of mine live in now used to be occupied 30 years ago by jacques cousteau on his
first adventure into the sea of cortez. The fireplaces are also a dead giveaway. Rancho built rooms and houses with them. fishin rich

Rich, that's great... I thought is was one or the other. They were the ONLY resorts on East Cape in 1966 (Rancho Buena Vista and Palmas de Cortez,
then called Bahia de Palmas).
Juan, yes in 1966 there was NO inner harbor/ marina in San Lucas. The Hacienda was the only resort, on the beach. Behind it (where the marina is now)
was a salt flat that was the town's or Hacienda's airport. There was a pier and San Lucas had a fish canning plant, about where the harbor entrance is
now.

Great PICS David ....
The inner harbor was still missing in APRIL '73 when I rode my YAMAHA ENDURO with my friends ..... TJ to CABO and back. We camped where the harbor
would one day be...... very dusty .... and there was a few GOAT pens in the area close by.
I also have several slides from my trips south. There is a slide attachment that comes with many scanners that can be used to get on line. Not all
scanners have slide attachments.
