Vacation ideas?
It's time for us to take a vacation. The Deli will close for the month of February and we are considering going South for a few weeks.
We would prefer a place like camp Gecko but further south where it's WARMER. Will consider East or West side. Also need a cabin or casita as we don't
tent camp or RV. More isolated the better.
Any suggestions, Nomads?
We'll be taking the dog.

Don't know how successful you'll be finding the same value of accomodations/etc of Camp Gecko along the coast elsewhere. I would investigate
Conception Bay to see what was available - if anything - these days for something along these lines. Also...
Sea of Cortez:
Ventana Bay - While I like the Los Planes / Las Arenas area out south east of La Paz, I've never actually been to this particular property. For
better or worse it is a destination for windsurfing/windsurfers.

Pacific Ocean:
Scorpion Bay - there's not much to find on the Pacific side of BCS - other than in and around Todos Santos - besides primitive camping. San Juanico
has that, but also has primitive "palapas" as well, which makes it an exception:

Some suggestions for Conception Bay... geared more for RVers, campers, palapa shelters, etc...but does have at least one B&B, one yurt-type hostel
(many large domed yurts w/cafe on beach), and a hotel/motel further south in the Bay. Casitas or cabin-type lodging are rare in the Bay although some
homeowners do rent out houses from time to time that are secluded and private. I don't know the prices personally on any of these ..except for the
yurts just south of Posada in the Bay. I picked up 2 hitchikers in Mulege yesterday who had bused into town from San Diego and were looking for just
such a place as you are. I dropped them off at Roy's EcoMundo huts and had a cup of coffee while they looked things over. Roy told me the prices
were 25 a night and 20 a night..depending on a choice of 2 sizes of rooms. He and his wife, Rosie, a charming Thai woman who is a great chef..also
have a small beach cafe and bookshop there, rent out kayaks, and life seems tranquil. I know the 2 fellows who I gave the tour to were happy.
Things are building up fast everywhere on the southern penisula these days so I wouldn't be surprised if you found accomodations almost anywhere...and
almost certainly within a year or two.
A small RV would enhance your choices.

Go to Hawaii. There are some cheap rooms on the big island - converted sugar plantation housing. Just a couple miles up the highway from there, is
a hostel - rooms in the main house, or cheaper ones in the dorm style room - $10 for these. Kitchen privileges, with continental breakfast included.
It's fun. Close to fantastic snorkeling.
