Interesting that Sailflow and Windalert, two wind prediction sites owned by the same company, could have predictions that disagree so much.

I was happy to have found the weather forecast site for BoLA but then I discovered that the weather records are identical for BoLA, San Felipe and Guerrerro Negro! So which one is it????

http://www.accuweather.com/en/mx/bahia-de-los-angeles/231766...

Edit: It seems San Felipe now has its own weather report.

It looks like it's been pretty hot down there, 35 C yesterday, although that's not too hot really, I'm just stuck in 5-10 C weather here in Canada.

keep in mind that there are no "official" reporting stations down there. it's fairly easy to extrapolate when the winds are going to blow and realize that the temps given are about 10 degrees too low! does it really matter if the wind is blowing 15 or 30 knots? anything in between is not conducive to on-water activity.

I would think a west wind, certainly up to maybe 20kts, might be maneuverable in that area. If he hugs shore, no wind waves have a chance to develop with such a short reach/fetch, whatever the term is. I have checked on my boat anchored about 50-75 feet from shore at Guillermos, during a 45-50 knot west wind and there wasnt much going on around the boat. Another 100 feet out, it was serious white-capping.

That BOLA station is a bit suspect IMO. If you look at it's readings on WU for the last eleven hours the gusts have been EXACTLY 24 mph. That's unrealistic for all the gusts over an eleven hour period to be EXACTLY 24 mph, especially when there were large periods in that eleven hours where the winds were under 8 mph.

I can only imagine the choppy conditions caused by the wind has him hugging the shore and not making good distance possible. Tomorrow marks 14 days since leaving Gonzaga's Rancho Grande beach.

OK amigos, no Spot signal as of 8:45 this morning, and I must leave for work now... If I see anything on my phone today regarding Graham, I will post a note.. and make a new map when I am home, if he moves today.

Nice Beach!

If Graham stays here today, I will add a distance travel estimate from last night's Spot.

BajaNomad (Doug) and family have camped there or very close and posted some nice photos of the beach at Ensenada Alcatraz.

He's good friends with Antonio at Archelon and I've talked to him there, he sets up camp in one of the palapas. That would be a good place to look for him.
