Chuckie you are right on. Don't think beating a local would work out well and calling the cops has never worked out for me in Mexico!
rtts551. My wife walked out of the showers and around to the back of the building and CAUGHT the guy standing on the propane tank where he was peeking
into the showers.

This reads like the old book, "Eating Your Way Through Baja" but for hotels!
It's actually a pretty good read. Maybe a page here on just hotels (as a sticky that could be added to) so everyone who wanted could make a short
comment good or bad of where they stayed, how much and conditions?
Like a NomadsTripAdvisor, but then again maybe the suggestion has been offered before and I'm not aware of it.
Or maybe someone with nothing to do but watch the sun come up over the Gulf could codify all the comments and make a separate post in an organized
fashion?

Ain't just in Mexico; it's a universal situation. Had a friend about 6 years ago stop in Tucson on the way north, favorite motel, well-lit lot with
video cameras. Woke to find his camper door window broken, and his enclosed 6x8 trailer with the lock cut.... long story short, cops called, figured
it was an inside-job set up by employees.... no arrests, no return, yes insurance. Cameras and laptops are replaceable, but contents are not. Still
very upsetting. Even locks just keep honest people honest.
I think though in Baja, and especially most of Mexico the rise of the lawlessness over the last 10 years has created even more of an 'open-door
policy' for thieves to thrive and enforcement to diminish. IF YOU LOVE IT, LOCK IT. I don't see or believe there will be any changes in trends in
the near future, from Corvallis to Los Cabos.
Another short story; years ago in San Lucitas there was a local tweaker wreaking havoc stealing to feed his habit; no one was safe, Americano or
Méxicano. He was warned a few times by the local Constabulary... then they gently 'persuaded him one night on the outskirts of town with a
blanket/sock-and-soap party. He's been a model citizen ever since.... but i'd leave it to their Countrymen..... like vehicle accidents, an Americano
is guilty until proven innocent; Napoleonic Law prevails. That is, IF you get caught.....
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

Have never encountered any sex deviants in Baja. But years ago, I was in the bathroom on the Staten Island ferry taking a whiz only to note that the
guy next to me was beating off.
Never encountered anything like that in Baja.

Regardless of the culture
there are a lot of sex offenders in Mexico. Read the local news, there are stories all the time about women and children being abused, I've personally
heard first hand accounts of some pretty sick stuff that goes on here in our little village.
