You might want to check the shift cable adjustment and the shift interuptor switch...anyone can rebuild that motor,,,But, making it run SWEET,, takes
a bit of "Touch".....Ask any Lady,,same gig !! some have the "Touch" and a lot don't !! a STARCRAFT with that motor will FLY !! if propped right and
a real tune,,,which seldom ever happens on a I/O !!

sounds like the lower shift cable needs replaced.. if the oil is good..and they are a bit of a pain to replace and adjust correctly... I would assume
that baby will get up and fly with a "Iron Duke" which I belive have been in production since 59
