A Miscellaneous Musing about Technology Run Amok

Heading for El Centro this a.m. in a Rental (2015 Hyundai Santa Fe), the thought occurred to me once again..........................

How Many accidents result from Trying to figure out HOW to operate the RADIO (or some other once simple control) on an unfamiliar newer vehicle ?

Likely something impossible to chart since NOBODY would admit to it.

On a related Rental-Car note, I'm not sure which is worse-having an owners manual the size of a family-Bible in the Glove Box OR none at all. Both are common.

Speaking of the Audio, those Steering wheel controls lead to a lot of W-T-F ? moments, too.

LA Public Library archives

E.g. here's the results from a search I did for the Venice Short Line. Obviously, modify your search to find some other cool SoCal stuff.

For any of you Central Coast folks, that's our old neighbor and friend Louie Ortega in the rear right with the black guitar. Good guy and fine musician. Anybody else remember him and "Salsa Brava" playing almost every weekend at the Old Port Inn back in the 70's? Good times!

Nomads,
Congratulations on a most enjoyable series of responses to this thread...nearly 6000 views and over 200 contributions :light:

Clearly there is a need for the opportunity to respond to posts of all sorts....often resulting in what the kids today deem a "hijack".

Your interest and contributions have added to the sense of fun we can have here with our divergent thinking as well as the free-associative thinking we all tend to have....frequently ending up in the ADHD of our replies.

May it continue in the spirit it was intended....

There is NO WAY to get off a topic in this thread.....of course, unless you string more than 3 replies together on the same subject

Night driving?

Driving at night is allowed with the proper stamp on your FMM....if you get one!
