Need Blood??
A very nice lady in Ensenada ended up at the General Hospital in Ensenada because of supposed liver failure. She seems to be getting better but now
there is a call out for blood donations. I have seen young people die because of lack of blood in Mexico. Please, people use your common sense and
get to the US if you need blood. Don't risk your life. There is a severe shortage of blood in Mexico.

Donating blood is not as risky as accepting blood that has not been properly processed. What are the type and screening requirements and how well are
they enforced?

I suppose the OP might know,,certainly if one needs blood it's better to go stateside.... if. one. can. ....but surely if Mexico's bloodbanks
are in low supply, there's a great gift most anyone can give... the gift of life!
...it'd be good to learn more deets of the situation.

Blood Banks are in very short supply and usually hospitals ask for donations at the time they need it. Here are the requirements that were listed on
the Facebook page of the lady in Ensenada that needed blood by her friend as per the hospital General in Ensenada:
You can only give between 7:30 am and 9:00 am (I am not sure they are open M-F but they are closed on weekends).
I AM GOING IN THE MORNING, IF YOU WANT TO COME ALONG LET ME KNOW.
You need ID
Age between 18-55
Weigh more than 110 pounds
You are not sick
Do not use drugs
Have not had alcohol for 3 days
Have not had sex with a prostitute
Have not been to jail
Have not been vaccinated in the past month
Are not pregnant or lactating
No recent tattoos
You are not tired
No food 12 hours before

Exactly. I didn't get far down the list before I was out, I weigh more than 110 lbs. that's pretty much my only qualification.

....gawrsh,,,I can see why they're in short supply
I guess that's why there's individual call-outs when blood's needed,,,the 'donee' can waive some of the restrictions if it's a personal donation.

Looks to me like it is a virtually impossible situation. BTW, the donation was a private one. Might be more restrictions for a public donation.
