Death Valley Super Bloom Year
We were home only a few days from our north coast trip when we decided we needed to head out to Death Valley and see the Super Bloom year--- a year of
more and bigger flowers and more species.
We could have found a lot more species with more exploration, but we were only there for the one afternoon. We went out the Big Pine Road which is
open and in great shape. After the afternoon, we went out to Beatty to spend the night so we could travel back through Titus Canyon --- more about
that later. We need to go back and look for more flowers.

I've been blessed over the years to have communed 3 times in carpet blooms on the Colorado Plateau and once in Baja; truly a magical experience. I'm
so envious !!! Great pics and thank you Diana. I'll have to miss Death Valley this year, but I have 'spies' watching up north and will run in a
heartbeat. Also any AZ-folk please post if you get some good boom too; I will too.

Thanks for the comments. It is something to see the really arid desert alive with color. The survival of these plants is simply amazing. I look
forward to the arid white mountains after all the snow this year. Those tiny alpine flowers are also real survivors.
The sad part of the October rains is that there was a lot of damage to Scotty's Castle which is still closed as is that road.
I hear that Joshua Tree is really nice right now --- may have to run down there.

Nice! Thanks for posting, couldn't make it up for the flowers this year.
We are headed over to Tucson and Bisbee next week for four days. I hope we aren't too late for the bloom over there.

Ken, while some of these were taken with the Cannon because I have a macro lens for that, some were with the new Sony. I love the upgrade! I love
that I can shoot at very high ISO numbers and there is little noise that is easy to deal with. The next upgrade will have to wait.
