Hotel Terrasal update
Stayed at Terrasal in GN last Friday night. They have increased their rates since we last stayed there in January. New rates:
1 person = 550p
2 persons = 640p
dogs = additional 100p per dog.
Crossed into US at Tecate at 4pm on Saturday. 2 hour wait in line. Guys on motorcycles (and there were a bunch) were allowed to go to the front of
the line slowing up everyone else.  Is this something new?

When you say "allowed" to go to the front, what do you mean? Who allowed them?
Motorcycles are a little different than cars. Engine cooling is one issue. Being exposed to the elements without AC is another. I have SENTRI on
the bike I use the most, but before that I would split lanes at Tecate when I crossed back.

Ouch! We paid 550p at Terrasal at this time last year for one room (two of us and two dogs). 840p for all of us would make it (by quite a bit) the
most expensive "road motel" we've encountered in Baja - and I thought the Cowboy was overcharging. Bummer! That was our "go-to".

I believe it is 550p for one bed, 640p for two beds. We stayed there 4 weeks ago and paid the 550P rate for one bed and two people.
In most of the world MC's go to the front of the line. When I was in Rome the bikes would line up in the oncoming lane at a red light. When the light
turned green the oncoming bikes would pass each other in the middle of the intersection and get back on the correct side of the road. Then the cars
would proceed through the intersection. Very civilized. I enjoyed waiting at the intersection as there were some very nice looking women commuting
to work on their scooters. 
As for mexico borders, yes we always go to the front on the bikes and allow other riders to do the same. Bike riders don't have the luxury of AC /
heat or a roof to keep cool/ warm / dry. And they usually get allowed through quickly since there is little to no room to carry contraband.
And if you really want to enjoy some two-wheeled madness, go ride in Vietnam and some of the other SE Asian countries. (I liked it  )

This year 840 at 17 pesos - 49 USD.
Big Ouch?? I don't think so.

Mula - thank you for the correction, as I had not considered the change in the exchange rate. However, at this time last year the we were actually at
15p to the dollar (http://www.exchangerates.org.uk/USD-MXN-31_03_2015-exchange-...), which makes it a jump from ~$37 to $49, or a 30% increase in price.

What part of a motel's expenses went up with the devaluation of the peso?
Not electricity, in my neck of the woods.
Not labor, in my neck of the woods.
Not Mexican products for cleaning in my neck of the woods.
Fuel prices actually went down in most of Mexico.
Maybe they are just pricing themselves accordingly, when looking at the competition in GN.

It's OK if you check in after sunset and depart before sunrise. The restaurants is middling OK. The place is very sterile, if that's your aesthetic,
the look and feel is post-modern Mexican colonial, with a dash of uniform blandness. The ventilation is poor, I found the rooms stuffy, impossible to
create cross flow.
Mallarimo is a bit worn out, but has 10x the character, and food at mallarimo is 5x better.

This is certainly an advantage at this time for everything we buy in Mexico. However, if the Peso goes back to 12 do we expect the prices to go down
accordingly? I don't think so, it just like taxes, they only go up. Not whinning, just saying.
