Ged, I'm thinking you know about this but the repercussions of climate change are having an impact inland too. I just moto'd through Glacier NP and their measurements tell us that there will be no glaciers left in the park by 2030. Unless of course, we get a nuclear winter....
Cold water fish are getting hit this summer.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Montana wildlife officials indefinitely closed a 183-mile stretch of the Yellowstone River and hundreds of miles of other waterways Friday, barring all fishing, rafting and other activities to prevent the spread of a parasite believed to have killed tens of thousands of fish.Fishing guides and rafting operators who run businesses along the river said the move could be catastrophic to the area's sizable outdoor industry, which depends heavily on the busy summer season. The closure could last for months if river conditions don't improve and fish keep dying, according to officials from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. It extends to hundreds of miles of waterways that feed into the Yellowstone, including the Boulder, Shields and Stillwater rivers.Even when the river reopens, there are fears the fish die-off could deal a lasting blow to the Yellowstone's reputation as a world-class trout fishery that draws visitors from around the world.
The disease was previously documented just twice in the state over the past 20 years but more recent outbreaks have occurred in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Officials said it does not pose a health risk to people.

Low water levels and warm temperatures are making the problem worse by adding to the stresses faced by cold-water species such as trout and whitefish, officials said. In other rivers, outbreaks of the disease persisted until water temperatures dropped months later.

On the Yellowstone, fishing, wading, floating, boating and other activities are banned until further notice. Numerous fly fishing outfitters and rafting companies operate in the closed stretch of river, which extends from Yellowstone National Park's northern boundary to the city of Laurel, along with all tributaries in those areas.

Who can say what it will be like in 2030? It's all guessing and they have been wrong all along, so far. All your popular lib celebrities and politicians (years ago) said the coastal cities would be underwater and the ice caps would be gone.

A couple years ago were these reports showing all is not lost and was getting better or colder up north...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415191/And-global-C...

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/climate-change-siz...

http://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/antarctic-sea-ice-reache...

Now here's a NASA report this last week, and read how they were all excited about the "rapid" ice melt in May, but by August are miffed that it didn't melt as much as they predicted (hoped?)!: http://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/nasa-monitors-the-n...

While focused highly on a smaller Arctic ice cap, very little is mentioned by the libs that the opposite pole, Antarctic ice is GROWING. Seems the earth is in balance, doesn't it?: http://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2015-antarctic-maximum-s...

LOL! Hard to spin the facts if they are all provided, as the earth has TWO polar regions, not just one.

The point is, the earth is not ending and making government bigger doesn't change the climate! Enjoy life and worry about things you can actually change.

"Oct. 15, 2015
2015 Antarctic Maximum Sea Ice Extent Breaks Streak of Record Highs"

"The growth of Antarctic sea ice was erratic this year: sea ice was at much higher than normal levels throughout much of the first half of 2015 until, in mid-July, it flattened out and even went below normal levels in mid-August. The sea ice cover recovered partially in September, but still this year’s maximum extent is 513,00 square miles (1.33 million square kilometers) below the record maximum extent, which was set in 2014."

Are they playing games with words?
You decide!

Just don't attempt to go fishing on the Yellowstone River which has been the premiere trout and whitefish fishery and destination in Montana. And if you're an outfitter whose income and business rely on that resource, you're also a victim of liberal big government. DK, you define idiocy with your willful ignorance, but I'm OK with that.

Ja Ja, He just cant admit he's wrong....Here in the Midwest, it's easy to see whats happening...aquifers dropping, droughts, record heats. Farmers ranchers adapting as fast as they can to new crops and methods....The Montana thing will break a lot of people...I don't see very many of them wringing their hands and blaming it in "Gummint"...too much work to do...

Whatever floats your boat boys!
I am happy to be disproven about sea level rising over our cities by 2006... oh wait, it is 2016, and the sea isn't any higher?!! I never said anything about ground water levels chuckie, yet you always seem to bring that up like it has something to do with sea level?

Things change, but getting all worked up and fighting over the degree is only wrong if you use such beliefs to gain more power over the people.

Why you think some government employee, thousands of miles away, knows more about how to spend your money than you do, is my only concern.

If more of our money is spent locally, on things we choose, than being sent to Washington and spent on things that will do nothing to change the natural climate (if we even should), then all of us would be better off. But, that is just my silly opinion!

Have a great day!

To all here, I am forever grateful to be able to connect with Baja when I am not able to be down there myself. For that reason, I have resisted commenting on politics and will continue to do so.

I don't come here every day for political opinions. Those who are convinced, will not be changing their minds, no matter what ignorance they continue to profess.

Denying 98% of world wide scientists opinion on mankinds' behavior directly affecting climate change leaves two percent of a chance that they are correct. Let it be.

Just because a palm tree on the SOC hasn't been washed away over the last 40 years is good enough for some to deny the ocean is rising. These same people should talk to those island folks in the Pacific and Indian Oceans whose lands are disappearing under water.

These same people should know how much of the Greenland ice sheet is melting away.

These same people should know that glaciers world wide are retreating at an ever increasing rate.

There is much more out there to support, rather than deny, our effect on climate change.

Baja Nomad has provided an escape from all the bs we are subjected to in our daily lives. May it always be so. Leave the politicking to other sites. I suppose the off topics forum could be used, but they are not. Over and out on politicking. I have to believe none of us logs onto this site for that. That is it for my one venture into hardly a debatable topic. Over and out. Thanks to all here. Peace out on politics on Baja Nomad.

Thank you surfhat, but not only a Palm Tree, over 60 years old, that was a foot or two above high tide in 1953, but is still a foot or two above high tide... but also huge rocks, the old main road to La Paz, other places throughout Baja on the sea (Alfonsina's, Puertecitos hot springs, the list goes on and on of solid items on the high tide line, that STILL are not underwater. If the sea level was indeed higher (and sea level is a worldwide reference point) why are not these places, the salt flats, and launch ramps, etc. under water?

It has already been mentioned that many islands made of coral or volcanic materials are sinking, naturally... which of course looks to people on these island like the ocean is rising.

David, I have the greatest respect for all you provide to us here on Baja's history. In that, you shine like no other and forever deserve all of our thanks. That's it. Keep on doing what you know best. Peace out my Baja brother.

Done and done on any politicking from here on out. My Baja dreams are reserved for other concerns than to what some think are debatable. They are not. You and John Coleman are a match made in heaven and deserve each other. That is it. That is all. Over and out. Thanks to all here and especially you Dennis for the historical info you continue to provide. We are all in your debt.

My one excursion into this non debate is over. If I want to explore whether climate change is manmade, I go elsewhere. May Nomad ever remain a site we can go to and not be subjected to the stuff we are exposed to in our daily lives. Peace to all and thanks to all here.

An awesome and kind reply surfhat!

I understand it is an emotional rather than logical thing with many. No matter what we post, it is probably not changing anyone's religious-like beliefs about if the climate changing is (for the first time in thousands) man-caused. The more important thing is: can we live with the change if we can't halt it?

Hope to cross paths someday and share a cold drink!

Viva Baja!

Does anybody else on this board find it alarming that a few DEMAND that other's change their mind, and by their standards fall-in-line, and when they don't they trash and bash them over and over again, almost without fail?

Be afraid, very afraid, the Algorian conspiracy of world scientists is coming to get you. With its anthropogenic global warming lies it's going to steal your freedoms, raise your taxes, and leave you jobless.

Be afraid, very afraid, the end is near.
