Most limits on US/Mexico flights lifted, lower airfares expected
Good news, it seems:

I wonder if this will increase flights from San Diego to Loreto.

I didn't know there was a flight from SD to Loreto.
I am hoping for more competition on the LAX to Loreto route. Although it appears as if the flights are not really full as it is. But, perhaps that
is a function of the prices being high.

Oh, I think you're right. Well then 1 flight would be an increase.

I recall flying Aerocalifornia from LA to Cabo for $200 round trip. Ah, those days. I also thought that Mexicana Airlines was a first class outfit.
Neither are in business today. Mexicana flew all around the world.
Had no idea that there were restrictions on flights between the US and Mexico. Southwest has increased its flight to SOB destinations. And, from my
local airport SNA, I can fly to many places in Mexico including Mexico City.

Why were there limits on flights? Been seeing this all over my Google News page and I'm ignorant.

Alaska Airlines used to fly to La Paz and Cabo, but now they fly to Loreto from LAX.
They fly to Cabo from San Diego, Santa Ana, and Lax. Right now they are offering $148 one way.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

There are direct flights from LAX to Loreto four or five days a week. I think there are daily direct flights to La Paz and Cabo.

I guess there are no direct flights to La Paz. Surprising to me.

i'm pretty sure this is not about flying tourists at all except that will be a by-product
it's about flying commercial products across the border that americans are demanding

The United States and Mexico agreed in December to open their aviation markets to each other's carriers. Rules that had generally limited two or three
airlines from each country to a particular route will go away.
Airlines on both sides of the border will be able to fly whatever routes they want as often as they want and set their own prices, said Thomas Engle,
the State Department's deputy assistant secretary for transportation.
The agreement also covers cargo airlines. It will let U.S. cargo carriers fly from airports in Mexico to other countries without stopping in the
United States.

Still miss Mexicana, which was a very classy airline that flew all over the world.
