Erendira Beach Camping

My wife and I decided it was time to introduce our new baby to the beauties of Baja and to try out our new acquisition, a 2005 Starcraft 10rt off-road tent trailer. We figured we would hit the dirt out of Erendira and keep driving until we found a nice spot to camp with no one around. Weather was perfect, tent trailer worked better than we could have hoped, and now our 2 month old baby is as hooked on Baja as we are. Unfortunately the surf left a little to be desired but that is ok, there is always next trip.

Drive down was uneventful, the only thing notable was a few miles of dirt diversion due to highway work just south of Santo Tomas. The beach road north of Erendira is fine, just one rocky hill that was pretty rain rutted but even towing the trailer it was passable in 2WD. We are headed back down October 23rd but will be in the Puertocitos area getting the in-laws settled in for the season, if anyone is around let us know and we can meet at the Cowpatty for a Tecate!

That's a pretty place. We've gone there a couple of times to watch the Baja 500. Also surfed Cabras a couple of times, back in the day. Easy drive from the border.

Sounds like a great trip and an awesome introduction to Baja for your newborn. You might want to consider coming down to La Chorera here on the Pacific side, about an hour and a half south of Erendira on a future trip.

Saludos...

Thanks for sharing, WestyW. Is your new baby a he, she? So cute!!!

Erendira's a very beautiful place. I spent a few nights camping there with my then 20 y-o daughter vacationing from college. Also reminds me, at another night, with Neal (Johns) and CG (Chris) on our way to BOLA. I wonder if George still lives there; he was the one who led me to the camping spot.
