Who Got Rain?

Who got rain? We did!!!! It actually rained for awhile last night in Bahia Asuncion!!! AND a superb thunder and lightning event which is usually only admired from a distance over the eastern sky...but we got a spectacular show over the ocean last night and enough rain to actually wet the ground...hurrrray!!! Anybody else get a nice summer drizzle yesterday?

This is great for the pithayas...this was Juan's take from a couple days ago from a pithaya patch close to here...so yummmmmy.

Hard rain in Spring Valley yesterday evening. Plants and garden are very happy.

We recently had rain gutters installed and purchased a 660 gallon tank and pump to harvest the rain. Unfortunately, though, it's not connected yet. Hopefully by the next storm.

not a drop though we sure saw the lightning partying in the sky further north....but not a sound of thunder.

Yuma Az. had big drops but you could count them. Much lightining in the west. Not so much thunder.

Many people think out town is named "Open Eyes" (Abreojos) because of the reefs. Not so. It is because there is never any rain, thunder or lightening and you can look up with "open eyes".

Thunder set off car alarms all morning. A good number of lightning strikes as well. Heavy rain off and on Sunday afternoon through Monday night.

that's a change eh Blanca....the storm came from the ocean, sort of the northwest...took us all by surprise...super summer sunny day today...the ocean was crystal clear and about 73 degrees...perfect for swimming and body surfing!

In Borrego Springs on Monday 25th we got a great sky display of clouds all day then storm cells in late afternoon, about 4PM . North of us in Cayote and Henderson canyons we saw the cells blow through with lightning etc..fun. At 7pm we had a big electrical display as Bonnie and I left Carmelitas restaurant/Cantina then..BOOM..the town went dark and it rained bullets....always fun in the desert. When we got home we fired up the lanterns then watched the storm blow through followed by a great clear sky. Bonnie and couldn't be in Baja as planned for October but we got the tail end of the chubasco. Thanks Baja!!!

I was at the Mercado Hidalgo, in Tijuana, today. And I just missed buying the only case of PITHAYAS in the whole market. I saw the guy carrying it to his car. Probably weighed 20 kilos!
I did buy a case of aguacates for 48 Pesos and a case of key limes for 70 Pesos.
For those of not familiar with the place, it is a whole block square mercado with everything from fresh seasonal fruits and veggies, meats, cheeses, 3 brujas stores (medicinal herbs), kitchen and restaurant supplies, flowers, plants, herb plants, etc.
There are also several eateries that have been featured on the Food Network, Food channel, as well as the travel network.
This week there was a bonus included...a very large artistic DIA DE LOS METROS display
