The exchange rate has nothing to do with inflation when it's in this volatile, animated mode. When the rate stabilizes, and inventories are
replenished at the adjusted rate, inflation will be calculated by those figures. Imported items available today with prices calculated to reflect the
older, lower Peso/Dollar import prices, are the bargain if there is one to be had.

Most things at this point are speculative.
What isn't speculative is that I (in Rosarito) can get 20,000 pesos from the ATM for $978 and trade them to the cambio for $1053 today.

that is against the law
when you deposit the $1,053 in your bank account, you will owe uncle Sam 30% for tax, unless you are now in a higher tax bracket.

TIJUANA, Baja California - The purchasing power of state residents has dropped 22% in 2016, said economist José Luis Contreras Valenzuela.
"If the peso continues dropping, we will have a loss from the exchange rate of more than 50%," he said.
Yesterday, the dollar was at 20.76 in the Bank of Mexico and at bank windows it averaged 21 pesos.

It's not so simple to establish country of origin for products any more. Bud Lite comes to mind.......made in Mexico.
