More fees

For all of you lucky enough to have a vehicle(s) registered in California, starting April 1st, 2017 you will be paying a $10 per year increase in the vehicle registration fee ......

(pertains to Baja as a public service to those who take California plated vehicles south of the border)

$10 a year?
I'm going to have rethink my whole lifestyle, or claim to have moved to South Dakota like some other tax dodgers.

That's how they get away with it... a little at a time... and some of you say that won't hurt... then more next year, etc.

Governor Davis was thrown out when he tried to raise the vehicle registration by over $200, all at once. Arnold was elected and terminated that fee!

How much does gas, or milk, or electricity have to go up to cost you an extra $10 a year?
This is not news worthy.

If only the roads were good, if only the services were good.....but this $10 increase is to fund the CHP retirement account

Tucson roads are way worse than Phoenix. The city (I still have a house in the county) passed a 1 % sales tax to Patch the craters they had. When ever we travel to Kalifornia...the roads are so much better than other states. You pay for what you get.

I do live in Nevada, and hopefully no more Californians will move here

I don't mind paying for services, but the increase is to fund the CHP retirement account (at about $70k a year per person)....it isn't going into services or road repair

How do they get out of paying taxes> Does Kalifornia issue a card that exempts them from Gas Tax, Sales Tax, excise tax, luxury tax, property tax, tax on phone service, internet, utility tax.. ad nauseum? Once again you have your head up your burro...NOBODY escapes taxes..

Its a true sign of old age and obsolesence when you start whining that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and everything was better when i was younger!

Youth is an additude! Change yours!

P.s. Quit whining about your lack of paying work and get a better job!

Californians who wanted their freedoms back had to move to other states (or Mexico)! Not all of us can. My kids both want to leave, one did. The other can't make enough to have the lifestyle they grew up in because living costs are so now high here (but not in other states).

Why is it this way? Big government doing far more than the constitution mandates and allowing non-tax paying law breakers to have sanctuary, on the backs of the taxpayers.

Well, not a "east coast liberal" but from the Minnesota north country. I've been in California full time since 1974 and part time before that. I have supported myself and my two children while self-employed and they now are living and doing well here in an area that is similar economically to the N. San Diego County area where you live by taking advantage of our good education system and through their own efforts. As a small business person I never considered California's regulatory atmosphere to be oppressive nor taxes unreasonable. My family and friends in Minnesota pay lower taxes and vehicle fees but for several months per year spend $3-500/month to heat their homes. There is always a trade off. I live a pretty modest life but manage to do so in what I consider one of the best areas in the US. When one of my friends say they are fed up and moving to Idaho I just reply "send me a postcard, I'm staying here." I think I save enough by not needing a winter wardrobe to offset my higher DMV fees.
