Gonzaga to Chapala
Come on somebody. Give me a road report, taking into account the recent weather and construction. I don't want to do damage to my 34' travel trailer
but am not opposed to traveling a 5 or 10 mile section at 5 miles and hour. Would like to get info from anyone having done this in the last few days.

I traveled it on Monday morning just after a pretty good early morning rain squall. It was muddy and a lot of standing water, especially the last 3
miles to Chapala. Made the 23 miles of dirt in an hour and 20 in a 2 wd pickup. I've seen it worse and I've seen it better. I have never traveled it
in a rig such as yours but my guess is that you will not average better than 10 mph for the 23 miles.

That really would be ducky with me. If I had to spend 2 or 3 hours going 23 miles, I can live with that very well. Things I'm concerned about are deep
vados where I'd drag or tight corners with my 62' total length. I'm towing with a 1 ton, 6 speed, 4x4. I damn sure don't want to get myself big boyed
half way thru though. I really would love to be able to go this direction. Also, as it looks now, I'd be more toward the end of January and hopefully
be looking at much dryer surface conditions. Any and all reports are deeply appreciated.

I did Hwy. 5 on New Years with my 32 ft. Southwind towing my Sami. Did not need to air down. 1 hour to Coco's 1 hour to Chapala no problem. Just take
it easy.

I rode my 1200 Adventure through on the 27th, heading south. Didn't air down. Didn't get a flat (unlike two years ago). I blasted through with my
car on my way north on the 30th? Didn't air down, and didn't get a flat. I have BFG All Terrain KO2s on the car, and they seem very durable.
I suspect that you'll be fine.

Just went through there Sunday, after rain, standing water, and lot of mud! but the road in general was really good shape. your rig should be
fine. may need a little clean up after! Have a great trip.

Was over it yesterday afternoon... got to see them dynamite some rock (from a safe distance)... no new pavement open yet... still about 23 unpaved
miles, but lots of work in the canyon and boulder field going on.
I have many photos of the new road work... stay tuned to my trip report.

Tires on yr GSA
I'm heading south from Mexicali on 27th: San Felipe, and then run to
San Ignacio, and to La Paz..
What tires were you running on your GSA for that section of unpaved road?
Was it hard-packed /' graded, or was it loose and slimy?"

It is graded dirt... washboard sand to some embedded rocks, but easy driving if taken slowly. just under 23 miles unpaved.

Drove it a week ago and the road is in good condition. No vados or anything else to hang you up. You'll know the parts to slow down in.
Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60
Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.
