Gasoline Protestors Block Access to Pemex Storage Facility in Rosarito

Protestors blocked the access road to the Pemex facility in North Rosarito today.

That is the same access road for the WalMart, Home Depot Pabellon shopping mall and for the CFE federal electric company headquarters.

I had to pay the electric bill, so I parked way outside the blockade and hiked in past the protesters' roadblocks and the Policia Federal's roadblocks.

Lots of noise - screaming, yelling, waving signs, honking horns, but no aggressive actions. My car was blocked by another car when I got back, but the taxista parked next to me moved his car and guided me out of the blockade.

Just back from Baja and the price jumped up a LOT on Jan. 1. Was about 13.98/L for Magna and went to 16.16/L overnight...
Or, in our thinking: $2.64/G to $3.06/G !!!

In Tecate, there were banners draped over monuments... It was just dark when I drove in, but saw the word Gasolina, so I could only guess. I had just driven up from L.A. Bay to Tecate yesterday, so didn't know of the protests.

When I bought gas Monday evening at L.A. Bay, coming north, I had to recheck my figures because I forgot about the 1st of the month normal price change, but it has always been tiny and countered by the strong dollar, now at 20 pesos per dollar... and stations giving 19-20 exchange rates (Gonzaga Pemez was 19:1, and they do have diesel, fyi). I used pesos for buying gas, got them in Calexico at 20:1.
