Don't get what all the hub-bub is about. The US has been rebuilding the wall since Bush and during Obama. Trump is also hiring 5000 more border agents. Business as usual.

""If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting," the US president wrote on Twitter on Thursday morning." -- http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38760671

If that's Trump's position on the meeting, then what choice does EPN have...

Any expats down here concerned at the impending economic war the US is declaring on Mexico? I don't see this coming out well for anyone.

Widely respected historian Enrique Krauze said there was no doubt now that Mexico’s president should not go to Washington.

“Trump is a lunatic who will probably destroy himself. It is necessary to gain some time with patience, strength and dignity.”

Pretty much sums it up. If asked, I'm saying I'm Canadian.

Well I was willing to share my insights with him on cross border relations, but if he is going to be that way...cancel my meeting too!

Would somebody who uses twitter let him know that I am out?

Well, I sure agree with the "----patience, strength and dignity". That's what we all could use these days. Personally, I am not going to second-guess the Billionaire that wrote "the art of the deal" until I see how it turns out.

Looks like Pacificos and the like are going to be 20% more expensive for us in the US. I'm guessing the tax hike will benefit all of us.....:barf:

Anyone making T-shirts 'I am Canadian"? In Spanish would be even better.
I had my haircut last Friday during inauguration of this idiot. Did she (the hairdresser) ever change attitude when she found out I am Canadian. (and proud of it)
That was sweet.

At this point it seems that the American & Mexican people are all props in the reality show that is the Trump Presidency.

Hoping that cooler heads prevail, it doesn't seem like it would take much for things to spin up into a real cross-border mess, one that the current admin may not be able to unwind.

When Trumplethinskin gets done bullying Peña Nieto for having the cojones to diss him publicly and the peso really plunges in the next 12 months, I don't think there'll be much amor between nationalities, not that there ever really has been deeply other than a few chosen folk... I wouldn't want to be an investor in Mexico at the moment. Buena Suerte, y'all.

I have two little 4x4s in northern CA, one of them with Alaska plates. I better take it on the next trip, because I get treated more like a Canadian when people find out I am from Alaska!

It's difficult to imagine a circumstance SO bad that claiming to be Canadian would seem attractive, BUT (possibly) Trump is IT !

Thank God my many years of Baja travel are over. I'd hate to face THAT decision.

Trump is a lunatic, immature, hyper-sensitive man-child!
The funny thing is all of you knew this before the election!
Now you trump voters s act surprised that he is crazy!
You deserve what you got
Usa gdp growth will soon be negative, along with mexico

Trump will destroy two countries with one stone

Mexico may want that wall to keep out all the usa economic refugees!

EPN made this move only to ingratiate himself with his home-boy fans who, at the moment, hate him more than they hate North Americans, and that's a bunch.
