Buying a car in Baja

A few questions regarding buying a car in Baja:

First off I plan on living in Baja but have to leave the country from time to time for work and plan on buying a car in Baja.

Is it ok to buy a car in Baja that has CA plates?
Can I buy a car in Baja with Mexican plates while waiting for my residence permit?
If I buy a car in Tijuana with CA plates can I keep it in Baja for as long as I want or do I need to import/switch to Mex plates?
Can I come and go from Baja and leave a car with CA plates in Baja or should I import the car and switch to Mex plates?
Which license plates do people recommend that I look for when purchasing a car in Baja?

Thanks in advance to whoever can help with advice.

I think you can do all those things with variations. Just MAKE SURE the paperwork is in order.
Mex plates require a Mex dL and US plates require a US dl.

I'll let someone else go into the South Dakota registration option. it's popular.
